Asian girls like to wear cosmetic contacts. It's because of Japan. Japan is popular. We are all going to have to come to terms with that at some point.

And while on the topic of Asia, I wonder if people realize that it's kind of bad form to criticize a guy who might actually struggle with the language for not being super diligent about his comment box checking. Yeah, we all want a little personal validation, but the guy isn't exactly a vet here...

I can manage OK in Chinese myself, but it does take a lot more effort to read stuff than English (or Fr or Sp for that matter). I get 5-10 messages a day with titles in Chinese and I don't even take the time to read the titles for 90% of them (most are spam of some sort). Yeah, most people in HK tend to be pretty capable with English, but that's not the point. The point is that it's a lot more work than it probably looks.

So take a deep breath and relax maybe?

After all, if you comment just so you can get those little check boxes, maybe it's time to check your own motivation?

Second. Take a look at his Flicker account and you will see language is an issue. Give the guy a break and appreciate his talent with the camera. Part of me feels ashamed today because I am associated with DPC :-(
I hope this feeling will pass soon, regardless of whether the DQ is mandated or not ...

This is going nowhere. Somebody call the General. Tell him to bring his keys...

Or, just talk about the photo (not each other) using the same guideline as when voting -- assume it is legal -- and everything should be fine.

That'd be the guy with a little more than 8 years to amass said items in his portfolio.

Personally, my concern is not with the photographer, but the fact that DPCers who are not in that culture at all would be so fond of infantilization. Enough to get a blue ribbon.

Well the photo in question is so smooth, so flawless, so unreal, neither womanly nor manly, nor even childlike, it must be a pastiche on the genre.

Only here in a quibble would someone actually use the phrase "a pastiche on the genre" in a sentence.

I *love* this place! LOL!!!

Yes, she's vocabularically advanced. And she taught me how to spell ecstasy. I mean ecstacy. I mean...

I like it. Vocabularically. I like the confidence with which it was brandished, probably in a moment of linguistic ecstasy. And I am not sure if "pastiche on the genre" is idiomatic, makes sense, or means what I think, or indeed means what I meant. Possibly it was only directed at NikonJeb.

From a review of "Noises Off", a British farce:

A delicious damsel in her underwear, men losing their trousers, lots of banging about and a bucket load of innuendo provide the recipe for the perfect farce within a farce.

The theory goes that if farce involves watching things going horribly wrong then watching the wheels fall off a farce itself should increase the hilarity exponentially. And so it is here, with the catalyst being
Nothing On, a pastiche on the genre of sex play popular with the British in the 1970s and 1980s which we see here in the final stages of rehearsal and then successively at the beginning and end of its provincial tour.

Many more examples were found by googling the phrase, so you're in good standing with this one :-)

R.

ETA: "Vocabularically" also shows up repeatedly in Google, though it doesn't seem to be legit as far as the OED goes. Check it out, it's kinda funny; our questioning of the "word" is just one of many :-)

I got the grill fired up. I'll have grilled lens cap with a side of UV filter when validations come out.
