Is this a pedestrian tunnel? Pretty neat subject matter, however I think it would make a stronger composition if you perhaps backed up a little bit and tried to get more of the ground in the shot.

It would also make for a more dynamic photo (and probably help the blue/purple fringing) if you try shooting at sunrise or sunset or at least during a more overcast day.

Handheld at 1/23" -- you have steadier hands than I do.

The image does seem cropped way to high on the bottom. At first I thought I internet went out again while it was loading; sitting here waiting for it to finish, but then I realized it had. I am assuming the tunnel is taller than it is wide, so a portrait format would suit it better.

Backing up is a good suggestion. Also, if you back up far enough, you will have to get lower to get the stairs in the shot. Usually better to show a perspective that is not seen in any other photo taken at that location from 5'-6' high.

As an added suggestion, I would stop the exposure down enough to get at least a hint of detail in the sky. As long as it is not too much, the brightness can be brought back up in the shadows later. Bracketing your shot will help in finding the best exposure.

Hi Britannica and VisiBlanco;
Thanks for your suggestions. This was taken inside the Peterborough Liftlocks. The space I was in was very limited, so I would not have been able to back up very much more.
The photo here: //www.daneagleton.com/photos/000_0266b.jpg shows roughly (very roughly, this was a quick "arty" type shot!) where I was when shooting my photo not a lot of room for different framing.
But I agree with both of your comments - and will see if I can up with better framing - if I ever get a change to go back inside the Liftlocks!

Nice composition, I suggest converting it to B&W, it would look much better :)

Hi All;
Went back today to take another shot - and the area I was in is now locked... again. Guess I was just lucky to find it unlocked that one day... oh well. I so wanted to take another picture and try to incorporate the suggestions offered.
Guess it will have to do the way it is now!
