Sorry being really thick today, can i put the same images on say Alamy, Shutterstock, dreamstime and fotolia?

I think you can, unless the site has an exclusivity clause in their contract with you. I think Shutterstock has a premium agreement where you get paid more, but they also get exclusive rights. Don't know about the others.

No, Shutterstock
is the only one without exclusivity agreements; you can go completely exclusive at iStockphoto, dreamstime and fotolia. Fotolia and dreamstime also offer exclusivity agreements for selected files.

For me it is best not to go exclusive, I usually put the same files on all of these, but I don't put identical files on Alamy; I think it is not fair to offer images to Alamy customers for hundreds of $, when they can get the same file for less than 1$ at shutterstock.
Some of my files are exclusive at fotolia, though, especially files with specific content (such as german language on signs).

Ok that is what I thought, I was also going reserve my best photos for Alamy, as this was the first stock library I got accepted for.

If you submit the same file to Alamy and other micro stock agencies. Make sure that the images have the RF license model at Alamy.

I would not post the same images at micro sites and RM sites like Alamy or Getty at all. A "similar" image would be OK, but I'd make sure the micro submission was at the minimum submission size (usually 2-4MP -- P&S OK); a submission to Alamy usually has to be upsampled, even from today's 10-12MP dSLR cameras ...

Alamy also has the RF license model and also has the "Nobel Use" price.

What does this mean.

What does this mean.

If you submit the same image to a "micro" site and to Alamy you must use Alamy's Royalty-Free licensing model, which is substantially the same as at a micro site. They cannot offer a Rights-Managed license if the same image is available royalty-free at another source.

Your best bet is to never upload identical images to micro and macro sites.
