In my opinion, all the elements are there for a really nice shot. The few changes I might make on this are getting something to bounce some light on to the part of the orange (green?) that we are looking at, like a reflector or at least some white cardboard. You obviously can't control the sky, but you'll find that flat white clouds don't make for very interesting shots. Also I obviously don't know the surroundings but maybe rotate the view and find something interesting in the background to refract in the water drops. Perhaps lowering the view and focusing more on the big drip on the bottom.

This is a wonderful image that has wonderful lighting and clearity.
I like how its centered.
Although i think i would like it better if the colors were bumped up more or converted to a high contrast BW.
Great job over all!

I love the shot of your cat. The eyes are great....Also there is great detail in her fur. I really think that you should have done better in this challenge.

I understand the technical limitations of using a point and shoot etc. etc. But this is a cool image with respect to perspective. Look at how nicely the ropes converge to a single dot! Besides the desire for a little more contrast, I would have loved to see it in a portrait orientation, and perhaps with a slight tilt so the point of convergence is in a corner of the image. Good job!

I really like the rich colors in this image, and the back lighting on the main subject (the single in focus leaf) is wonderful. I think this image would have been much stronger if there had been a more definitive main subject, however. A tighter crop and much shallower DOF (to really blur the remaining leaves) could have done wonders for this shot. (Let's also not rule out the potential that a wet leaf with little drops of water sparkling would have had with the DPC crowd!) :)

This is a fantastic shot, the depth draws me into the scene, wanting more. The relationship between the wood in the foreground and background leave me wondering if they were at some point in time attatched to one another. The B&W conversion here is beautiful, rich range of tones. I do have to agree with Bear_Music that the inline boarder hurts the overall impact, however not much.

I think this image had enormous potential. If you had done a longer exposure so that the water had a softer feel to it I think it would of been breathtaking. I love the colors in the sky, and I like the color and contrast of the buildings. The softer water would of made this image!

i didnt go into why i reckon its a brilliant shot in my last comment so now i will !!
firstly i love the amazing red vibrant colour of the cherries .. the stalks with their green give a great contrast .. i also particularly love how the dof gives such excellent detail, sharpness and clarity to the nearer droplets and fades away to a blur in the background ..
i feel that i could almost pick those cherries up .. this would have to be one of my favourite pic of yours carrie .. :)

I've always loved his shot. The detail on the bugs mouth is outstanding! You'll always be the best a insect photos roz. + 1 fav

I've always liked this one, and can't believe there still aren't any comments on it. I love anything that has to do with the water, but the sky and the dodging/burning you appear to have had to done is, to me, very nice.

I thought it was a real attention-grabber!

i love spooky, horror, anticipation, fear and this creates those feelings amazingly well .. the fact that the eye is slightly undefined might add to the atmosphere .. i can see this on the cover of a book .. would suit horror or thriller i reckon .. it's 5.18am here in oz and i'm sitting at my computer .. the window is beside me .. and it's dark .. i can imagine this image superimposed on my window, but REAL .. !!! .. scarey stuff .. well done .. !!! ..
think i might close the curtain .. :)

Love the softness here. And the white vignetting. Not sure if I would have picked this busy glass here, takes my attention away from the subject: the water, and her eyes.

Very nice!

PRASH, A WONDERFUL THREAD.

The lines in this photo is wonderful. Especially the nice curve of the water-edge, and the way it is repeated with the line of buildings. The colours do not jump out at you, but I do not see that it should. The whole picture has a watercolour-feel to it, and relaxes me. Well done.

OK the things I love first. I love the detail...You can see every wrinkle and crease. It really is a good pose.(I know you really didn't have control over that one). I don't think that this image would look right in color.

OK I do see one thing that I would have tied to get rid of and that is noise. There seems to be some on the top of the pic.

Love the perspective, and the leading lines. B&W helps too. A little but of contrast adjustment may have brought the details in trees up, and a slightly tighter crop at the bottom could do wonders so one of the lines would meet the corner perfectly.

Good job!

Nice! This is fantastic if you ask me. Only a few problems. In post the photo has been over-sharpened, the photo is much too grainy, and the background stick out too much. I would like this shot more if it has a black background, and the quality was a bit better. Nice job though, really great.

I love this dramatic shot. The point of view makes the tractor look so imposing. The stark contrasts really suit the massive machinery while maintaining enough detail. I like the rain on the windows and the frost on the wheels too. The whole image illustrates the harshness of the elements in which the tractor resides.

Argh!! jomari beat me, but as long as I did one for aperturejack:

Wow! This is spectacular! If only you could have been a little more to the right so you could crop something like this: yet have only street and sidewalk in the background. The umbrella, kid and reflections are incredible, but your background is so busy.

It still made me say "wow" when I first saw it, however. Marvelous shot!

jomari, I promise I'll come back after dinner and do one for you!

Oh, what the heck, dinner can wait:

oh my! This is wonderful! I would really love to see what the glass ball looks like. The only nitpick I have is the blown spot on the left draws my eye. The other ones don't bother me much, perhaps because they're smaller. It's still truly wonderful, however, and very well done!

(although this one is still one of my all time favorites! )

how cute is this shot .. the bird seems so intense looking in that apple i'm wondering if there's a worm in there ..!!
the dof in this picture couldnt be more perfect and the colours are gorgeous .. its a total winner in my book .. :)

This is such an unusual viewpoint for a(n almost) macro. The background goes so nicely with the details. I just wish the framing had the stem in the bottom right corner. But I guess that didn't make a big difference since you are already sitting at an avg greater than 6.5.

I think this is one of your best. The composition, the capture of emotion/feeling, and the processing are all done very well. It deserved a much higher score/placement. (Ah, just saw it was a free study. I think you automatically add .5 to the score for that)
8-)

Additionally, I applaud you for even taking the shot in the first place. I am still not comfortable with taking candid shots of strangers. Maybe, once I get more comfortable with my photography itself, that is something that will take care of itself.

Nicely done.

i'm going against your other commentors on this .. i think its an excellent shot .. i love the white trunks of the trees and the wonderful feeling i get when i look at this image .. for some reason it makes me think of a crisp and very cold morning in some country with amazing scenery ..
the trees are fantastic .. the branches forming a great pattern in the sky .. the sky so blue and gorgeous .. i dont know wot else to say but this really zings .. !!
could have a spot of contrast added in the processing to give more impact . ? .. havent tried it so i'm not sure ..

LOVE THIS THREAD .. !!

It is really easy to comment on roz's photos, as there is never a lack of quality.

Comment:
I think this is an outstanding shot, and definitely in your comfort zone. You are simply a master at taking macro photos of insects. The strengths in this shot are the vibrate colors, and the shallow DOF which really focuses the attention on the hungry bee.

ETA: wrong image number. Corrected now.

Fantastic capture. I love the creative idea of "rendering in progress". It really looks like that. Not sure what kind of editing was put into this, but it's just quirky and creative, I love stuff like that.
