LOL Corey, I was referring to the fact that mycelium looks quite similar for each species of mushroom it produces ... mushrooms are the fruit of the mycelium - maybe we need a challenge to shoot mycelium so we can have even more things to count that look similar. I am getting into this whole counting thing. In my best Count voice HAHAHAHA :)

Two more comments.

I am glad to see that some people are actually searching the originals and comparing the entries 1-to-1. I like that. I had almost forgotten such diligent critics existed, thank you, thank you - even if you didn't like the image - for at least being thorough and telling us why that is so:-):-)

THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY AFGHAN GIRLS

I'm not saying that they are bad pictures, just that there are a lot of them, and there are! Of course, I can always go and just level the playing field and give them all the same score...;-)

Actually I am surprised that there aren't more photojournalistic shots.

I'd really like to see this image fill the second place position on my profile so I hope the score stays or creeps up. It's interesting to take in the comments. About as many many people didn't like my spin on the image as those that did. I have my reasons for making those choices but the naysayers, who commented early on about my creative choices, had me second guessing myself. The supporters who supported my desire to make the image my own showed up later. Who's to know? There's one thing I keep learning with each challenge; you always realize after the frame's been snapped what little extra really needed to be done to make the image work. Now to just get to that point before the setup and tear down.

So, can we still not vote on our team mates entries even if we're not part of the play-offs? I can still see my team's entries at the bottom of all the entries.

But that's gonna put even the 'good' reproductions of the AG portrait at a disadvantage:-) Too bad what having something in common does to you, even if you are different, human brain stops at the first commonality it finds? :-)!

Nah, it just can't really deal with numbers bigger than three... :)

PM me which one it is and I will. Won't change score though.

I have no problem with the numerous AG photos and will not vote anyone down for that. Actually, it's kind of fun seeing several photographers version of the same image. They meet the challenge, and I will vote based on appeal to me. They followed what the challenge called for "Find a famous photograph and try to re-create the situation in your own way". To me a famous photograph is one that would be easily recognized by many. I expected to see many more Ansel Adams photos myself.

FWIW: snip from the challenge description "re-create the situation in your own way"

Happy with my score, not complaining, just a point.

Carrie: I don't think you need to find the original to vote on that image you mentioned about digging further. I would take the photog at face value; that he/she attempted to recreate a famous photograph. Recall that not all famous photographs are as well known as the Afghan girl image. What's famous to you may be obscure to me; and, as an example, I can think of a number of famous colleagues in my field that are basically unkown to 99% of the world.

oh i know im just trying to be fair... Im going to score it regardless I just like to do the same for every image... and all the other images I found the originals (im OCD about keeping things even and fair) so I want to give this one the same benefit.... I have several days before voting ends ;)
