If you REALLY know how use InDesign, especially if you have experience with XML imports, please pm me...

I'd really appreciate it!

I've never used InDesign but if the problem is XML related I may be able to help you.

I've used InDesign quite a bit, but never with XML imports.

thanks for the responses. in a nutshell, i'm trying to automate making picture books and have been pulling my hair out between the InDesign layout and the XML file. i 'finally' got something working, but it was still a fairly manual process.

but, after digging and digging a bit more, i found a local adobe training resource (who just happens to have a son in my son's boy scout troop...how about that, search all of cyberspace to find someone in my own backyard) who hooked me up adobe's XML expert who walked me through the steps missing from the manual.

hopefully, i'll have something to show for the aggravation later tonight ;-)

After which you'll pause for a deep breath, and then get to work on the tutorial ...? ;-)

LOL!

that'll come after i get the XML/InDesign bible.

here's what i've done so far. still needs a little tweaking, as well as the opening pages, but, all the same, it's a pretty good jump start on my sofobomo ;-)

Skip - Contact Amanda, she's a pro at InDesign and does our wedding albums using it.
