You realize that the DPL doesn't even have anything in voting this week right? So to through DPL into it seems kind of silly. |
In this particular case, if DPL isn't active, then you would be correct. That doesn't mean it hasn't led to abuse in other challenges. |

Hahaha....4.78 after a high of 5.25 last night. Lone comment says...nice composition, nice lighting technique and interesting subject choice.
The comment reflects exactly what I tried to accomplish !
Amazing that I still don't know what the voters like...in general. |

Which is why the best approach is to work on improving what appeals to YOU. You'll never figure out the popular voting mentality, but you do know what you like. |

| My pic was at 5.78xx when I went to bed last night and it's at 5.1000 this morning... I'll never understand the voters here either!!! I just submit what I like, because what I've seen over the years here at DPC is that even the best photographers out there get hammered too! Oh well, on to the next challenge... |

...and my current image is what I like. I was working with these objects for a few weeks, except I had 4 of them in my other shots. When I saw "double take" I thought I would used the same objects and set up a nice shot.
I still think it is good...IMO the best staged or minipulated shot I've ever done as far as lighting and composition is concerned. I think I'm losing out on the subject matter end.

| I got two great comments since last night. But the score baffles me (in 4's;-). It probably means the image is appealing strongly to a minority, but there is a strong majority that hates it too, and there's no one in between:-) |

Generally, when people complain about their scores, I silently think "Well, I guess your image just sucks worse than you think". I also try to not complain myself, for the same reason. If my image isn't scoring well, there are probably really good reasons, and I deserve the score.
This time however, I am truly baffled. My image is sharp, decently exposed, and it meets the challenge. I even think its kinda cute, and its not a cliche picture. I just keep staring at it trying to come up with reasons for why this image should receive more 4s than 6s and pulling a blank. |

| only been tracking scores with hawkeye's spreadsheet for 6 months, but this challenge represents the first time i've gotten this many 1s and 2s in the first day of voting. angry voters out there today, leave my dross alone! |
