I love this site, but it sure is easy for people to get their panties in a bunch around here...

I'll second that, but to keep with the OP, I think this would be a sweet option to have. Let me know if I can be a tester if you need more help. Thanks Nobody.

What if I get a virus from this?

How can we be sure that our votes are not sent to yourself in the background? Obviously we will have to allow this app to work through our firewalls, thus it could easily send a few extras packets so you can see how people are voting? Will you be releasing the source so we can compile ourselves, safe in the knowledge that the executable doesn't have anything untoward bundled in?

Ok, now I'm feeling insulted.

Don't be. There are always the critics in any group and Simms
has a valid concern. Were I the owner my concern would be bandwidth if 188 people tried to D/L all the images of a 599 image free study at the same time. Send this idea to Langdon.
He might like it. He is the only critic you have to listen to.
I like the idea myself.

Why? - I dont know you from Adam and you`re asking me to download and test a program that obviously stores a record of my voting and then sends it to the internet afterwards. I am not insulting you personally. Its not like I just called you a twat or something.

Would you download a piece of software from me and run it on your system without asking valid questions about data protection? Of course you wouldn't.

Sorry if you took offence, try not to be so sensitive poppet.

I can say that was not a concern of mine, not like he's a new account, been around since '05, everybody knows nobody!

Why am I reminded of that moment when the tribal elders first saw a cigarette lighter...

I would also strongly advise you debug it before you put it in working order for the populous. You don't want to accidentally have votes going to the wrong images in the end, nor would you want your program to accidentally infinite loop and perform a denial of service attack on DPC unintentionally. Otherwise, so long as you wrote the program efficiently (and I gather you have), it seems as though it could be quite an effective program :)

Please make it open source, too. I'm not in favor of you stealing my password ^^;

Why does change scare so many people?

It may be better to just put an option which would allow to load all the pictures of the challenge in cache...
Same result, easy to do ...

No good turn goes un-punished hey.... Too bad at the reaction..... Maybe that is linked to the dropping challenge entries and dropping active users... but what do I know. I appreciate nobody's efforts at improving the UI experience of the site... even though this is not one I would use.

New, and for a limited time only!

With the DPC-Hackers Toolkit, you too can;

- Steal images!
- Mangle votes!
- Crash the DPC server!
- Hammer bandwidth!
- Open profile backdoors!

And it's free, free, free!

I like the idea, too... but as GeneralE said, I would HIGHLY recommend coordinating such a thing with Langdon to be sure it's ok with him. No use putting effort into something and then find that it's a TOS violation.

I can do most of those without this application..

Its not a case of change. Its a case of an application that will require your DPC password, has the potential to record your voting patterns and send them to a third party. I don't care if the person has been here since 2005 - hell I dont care if they have been here since 2002. This is why malware is so prevalent on the internet, too many people happy to think "well it looks kosher".. BANG!

But as I said, make it open source and the worries go away!

Is it Mac compatible as well?? ;0)
