I've apparently taken leave of all common sense. :)

I'd like to feel out interest in a second DC Night Shoot this year. This would be a test case that would allow me to test a few things out before making this a yearly event.

I'm looking at a 6 week block from third week in September through the end of October. Ideally, I'm thinking middle of October. Little chilly, but we'd have clear skies, low tourists, and stable weather. Spring is a bad time to plan an event due to the strong chance for rain.

This would be a 3 day weekend event. Activites could include:

-A neighborhood tour of either Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria.

-National Zoo day trip

-Permit shooting at the US Capitol (depending on the current threat level and other assorted regulations)

- Arlington National Cemetary shoot

- Iwo Jima Memorial

- The World Famous DPC Monument Night Shoot

- Monument Sunset shoot

- National Cathedral

- Sunrise monument shoot

Now I know that there would be a reasonable level of interest locally. I need to know how many people are really interested in coming from out of town.

The floor is open. Who's interested? :)

My favorite time of the year! I'd be very interested.

I'm in... partly because you'd kill me if I bailed. ;-)

I wish I had been able to make the one last weekend. I'll make sure to be available if there is another this fall. Capitol sounds cool if we could swing the permit hoops. Thanks again to Clara for her superior organizational skills.

Sounds very interesting... put me in as interested

I'm most definitely interested ... may not participate the whole weekend, but at least parts thereof. I do have a vacation planned in mid-October, so it depends on the dates ...

I'm interested, even though I live about 300 miles away. I would definitely consider taking the trip.

BTW, I was working there the last week of April, and got to spend a couple of hours on the Mall on Friday afternoon. Here are some links to a couple of collages I put together for a charity auction in May:
War Memorials on the Mall
Three Presidents Immortalized
World War II Memorial

I'd love to come back and get some "do-overs"! Your proposed itinerary looks fantastic.

Those are some great shots! I like the one of the Jefferson Memorial in particular. :)

I will say that the earlier a date is set, the better my chances of participating. I can usually work my schedule around anything with enough advanced notice. Being a Realtor, I can take off when I need to as long as I have things in order. (I love being my own boss!)

Early to mid-October sounds great. The only time I know I wouldn't be available would be the first weekend in September.

So it's sounding increasingly like mid october could be a good time?

I have plans locally for the second weekend in October but any other would work for me.

Oh no. You aren't allowed to have any non-DPC plans. You just go reschedule yerself right now!

;)

Oh good....I thought it wasn't going to be until next year.
I am in.
No plans yet, but need to know dates enough in advance so I don't take on any jobs(yeah, like I have so many coming my way).

So which one of you is putting me up for two nights? j/k

The email to my congressman paid off. I got a call from his office a few minutes ago.

To get photo permits in DC, contact:

Special Events Office
202-224-8891

I think this is a division of either Capitol or Metro Police. They issue these permits.

Hey! I'm still around, barely.. I'm am still interested in doing this again as well, had a great time during the last outing. Let me know whats up, Clara.. Are you still around?

I would be interested in this as well, though I'd probably have to leave very early sunday night, as I have softball on Sundays. DEFINITELY interested though!

And I would still love to do it. Only one tiiiiiiiiiiiiiny little problem. I get my new store in 2 weeks, and have to get the place running smoothly. So if we do this, I can't do the whole big bells and whistles version. The other problem is that the Vietnam Memorial is partially blocked off for renovations. :/

Okay, headcount- who's interested in the idea of a night shoot (this time twilight to like 2 or 3amish?) in mid-late October 15th-30thish?

(added dates and the disclaimer that I'm still nuts. I just told ClubJuggle that I couldn't pull this together. Why am I doing this again? :))

Add me, pending "actual" dates. I am definitely interested, but already have some dates in Oct. that are previously scheduled.

It's Derek's fault. He's got a cute baby and needs to get out more. :) *deepsigh*

So, any more takers?
