I took a bunch of photos, but never completed the research needed to write the introductory text ... maybe next year ... :-(

Here's mine

I don't remember if I officially signed up for the 2010 project -- I signed up for the 2009 and never finished. So, maybe I'm just a year late.

:)

Yes, it is harder than expected. The tricky thing is to get a consistant theme or narrative that connects the images into one coherent book. I could have quite easily collected 35 photographs of my daughter that i've taken over the last month but i don't think they wouyld have tied together as well. Great fun though and i've definitely got the book bug. Time to look at Blurb and Issuu i think!

Clive, lovely simple flowing book. Nicely done. It's quite hard, isn't it to do the 30 day thing? I know I struggled.

Thanks Skip and Clive!

nice work, ya'll! love those doors, clive, and sarah, the b&w is stunning! nice collection, midhun!

sarah's on the mark with issuu, especially from the viewer's perspective. it loads so much quicker, plus the viewing is cleaner. here's my book, This is My Town on issuu.

issuu is free and easy, definitely worth it for showing off your stuff! what would be cool would be for the folks at sofobomo to set up their own bookshelf at issuu...(i'm sure there are some mechanics involved, but nothing that couldn't be worked out).

how's everybody else doing? i know there's more than just a handful of dpc'ers on that list...

Great books Skip and Midhun.

I'm still working on mine. I had to shift my fuzzy month back a couple of weeks due to a hectic June. I've made a start on both this last week though.

I signed up, but don't know when I will start, or what my topic will be. I begin a film photography class this Saturday, and I have a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park in July (but don't have a great tele lens yet).

Maybe I will do something in Black and White.

Oh well, I better decide soon. It's going to be fun!!!

So, fuzzy month starts tomorrow and i'm all set i'd say. I'm starting one book on the 1st and one on the 16th to stagger them.

Whispered Exits

Matilda Fey - 80 to 111 days.

I've got Scribus for making the book. I'm planning on keeping it simple and not go overboard with the graphic design and Scribus looks fine for that.

One annoying think i'm encountering is the SoFoBoMo site crashing my browser often when i log in (safari on mac). Not sure what that is about although i'm having the same happen with YouTube.

precisely!

you don't have to wait until the start date to start thinking about what you're going to do.

think about it like this: just about anyone is capable of taking pictures. one of the things this exercise does is to get you to think about doing something with your pictures. you actually have to spend some time thinking, planning, sketching, and then shooting. then comes the real work: learning the workflow necessary to actually create a publishable body of work.

yes, it does take some time and commitment, but in the end, you'll have something tangible to show what you're capable of when you push yourself to do more than push the shutter button.

fwiw, because of work constraints, last year i shot my entire book in one day...

Terry, the intention of SoFoBoMo is to make oneself committed in completing a photobook all within a month. People who look for it are people who had been thinking of doing something similar but always used to postpone waiting for the right collection to come or due to lack of time. So all in that spirit, the real task is to complete photo book from SCRATCH within 31 days. But there are no DQs invovled.

The idea is to shoot and edit and compile the book, all within the month.
