Happy Friday Everyone!

Thanks for the comments.

I will try and remember all of this for my next shoot.

I will be shooting a DJ, Car, and Girl.

I know typical music industry shoot right...

Much appreciated

Nicely done. I'll address the model shots not the tech stuff. Two of the shots sort of generated a instant response in my mind.

4 of 8 The door was a distraction. My eye immediately went to the labels.

6 of 8 (Ok. Call me dirty old man.) But it looked like a paparazzi shot for Britney Spears (The one who did not wear underwear?).

And the last. The long leg shot 8 of 8 in the back seat. Not at all a flattering.

I did.. if you watch the video the main light is shooting straight up with a flat panel attached to it.

The panel is made of foam.

If i had used an umbrella it would have been in the way and it would have gotten a lot of the car. I was pushing the light on the model more than the side of the car.

I would say that the best example would be Number 5.

The the snoot I made my self, and you can put a simple fabric softener or coffee filter inside to soften the light.

The only one I didn't diffuse is the one in the back seat.

But either way, next time around I will try to soften them even more.

As I mention I am shooting at around 1/32nd power.. I can drop it all the way to 1/128th if I have to.

Thanks,

- Luda

Thank you for the lighting setup. I am no expert (very, very far from it) but why didn't you use something to diffuse the main light for the model? Beauty dish, softbox or even a shoot through umbrella? Like I said I am just starting to play around with off camera lighting and am curious as to why you shot like this. They are all very nice btw, with just the bit of harsh light on a few areas.

Yes i will agree. Some of the pics were a bit blasted with light.

Especially the one with her knee. Pic number 6.

It shows even more when I convert for web.

BUT... The printed pics came out much better and more evenly lit.

I must be missing something when I convert to web. I just use the save for web function in Photoshop.

any suggestions on the web conversion?

As for subject

Yah... I killed two birds with one stone here. I shot the car by itself for the owner. Then I had some time to shoot the model for her. Both parties will get their pictures individually.

My light set up:

I had 3 flashes on remote 580ex. One in the back seat, one on a C-Stand, and last one with a snoot.

we had 4 floods around the car since the warehouse lights were a bit dim.

I often like to use multiple strobes at a very low setting rather than 1 on high power. If i remember correctly the highest one was at 1/32 power.

I added the video to the page:

I also agree with what all has been said.

I am curious if you would share your lighting setup?

I agree. The flash is really all you can look at because it's so bright in some of them. I also had trouble deciding if the CAR was the subject or the GIRL was the subject. Seems like the girl is...

I really like the photos, there is only one thing that strikes me in them. The flash is a little overpowering, and takes the eyes away from the scene. Take, for example, image 2; the light is too bright reflecting off her hand, and takes away from her. In image 4, her knees distract.

Hi all,

I did a TF project with a Lexus and Model. I took some shots of this Toyota in a warehouse.

Anyways I would love to get some input on your thoughts / opinions about this set. Good and bad about the car pictures and model pics. She is new to modeling and is trying to build her port. Constructive critiques can only make me a better photographer.

Thank you in advance,
