I just got accepted by Alamy. However before I even thought to submit images for QC, I printed out their list of reasons to refuse an image, and went through them one by one. Tripod helps with most potential issues. chromatic aberration is my only occasional bugaboo and now I know how to fix it, I'm pretty confident now in my abilities to tell if a photo is worth submitting or not So far 14 images up, no rejections. So I am keeping on doing what I am doing... |

What were their rejection reasons?
Their criteria are simple, but pretty rigid - they don't make judgements on content but demand reasonably high technical quality (although, insanely, not as ridiculously high as microstock seems to these days).
I've got a small collection of rejections; a couple for incorrect sizes when I've neglected to upsample and a handful for being "soft or lacking definition". In those cases, if I'm honest with myself I knew they were a little on the soft side, and was trying to see if I would get away with it.
In general, as long as you submit stuff that you know are technically sound and decently sharp you'll get through. |

| getting files on alamy is no problem, it just needs to be the best file quality as said above, of course the subject does need to be reasonable, getting files noticed on alamy is the really hard part, keywording is so so important because of their three keyword priority tiers and because the searcher doesnt have sort options. But when you get a sale, its well worth the trouble of the time on keywording and messing around with file sizes. |

Talk about omens! Just got an email from Alamy asking me to start submitting images! I registered with them when I first got the D40, before realizing that it would be way tough to ge images of suitable size/quality for Alamy with it. I learned only recently that the D40 wasn't on their list of approved cameras.
But now I have a D90, which is on their list of approved cameras, and a ton of confidence, so watch out Alamy! :-)
ETA: Was glad to see this on the site re sharpening:
Sharpening should be applied only once and this is best done at the repro stage.

| Congratulations! I have only a few shots on there so haven't sold anything yet, but got sick of giving my images away on the microstocks. You've inspired me to upload a bit more. Might get onto that now. |

I has nothing to do with the image quality...it's all about the file quality. |

And finally I got a first positive mail from Alamy with nice words "Congratulations! We have assessed your test submission and you have passed your Alamy Quality Control test." I almost lost hope but finally I did it. The upsizing issue was a little bit confusing.
Any suggestions & guidelines are welcomed. I am very new here. I see it as nice place or my portrait shot which are without model release. |
