Ah... in that case, then no, we really can't change it, or at least, we can't change it ourselves. We are at the mercy of what our back-end printing processor offers (this is also why we don't yet offer matting).

If they increase their frame size availability that can be added to DPC Prints.

I'm confused. I'm not sure what you're asking for here.

Taking a stab at it, but I'm guessing he's referring to the aspect ratio part of DPCprints. Specifically in this case to the fact that frames are only available at very restricted sizes / ratios.

Greetings,
Yes, I think adding matting as an option would be essential to increase sales. As a new user, I too was shocked that it was not already an option. Someday I hope to have prints worthy of sale, and would, providing the pricing is competetive, use DPC prints often.

Depending on price (not just of matting but also impact on postage costs) I'd possibly be interested.

In my case I'd be most interested in matting for the print sizes that are less standard - I can buy an 8x10 one cheaply on the high street but an 8x12 one can't be found for love nor money.

I either have to create it myself (not worth investment for number of times I'd need to do it) or pay wonga for someone else to do it.

I think matting would be a great idea!

I vote for matting also.

I only wish that it had been available before I bought a mat cutter.

I'm not a full member so my vote may not count. If I had a dcprints store I'd want the option to matte and frame large, acid free prints. I'm really into BIG (not sure what the matte size for a 16x20" print would be, but that would be swell!)

I think framing sales would go up considerably with matting offered. I agree, I never frame anything without a mat.

we need matting as an option!!!!!

i would likely order mattes with all the shots i would order - if 8x12" were an option - it's too much a pain to do it at home. i might frame some - but as of now the sizes available are wrong. i would recommend that prints be orderd matted. i would only offer black and white mattes, as a service on a number of levels.

mattes would have been voted 1st ( over the frame option ) if i were to have a choice.

EDIT: Drew - you need a new camera ;}

yes! most definitely!

I've only seen a couple of my prints that looked "okay" with no matting. If I had one request that I felt was the most important to me, this would be it.

Is matting still a possibility? If it is, add me as a yes vote. I think matting enhances (just about) all photos. And I love the feature that allows you to try a frame around your photo. Great visual aid. I hope that's available for matts, too. It would be perfect to be able to see the finished product at a click of the mouse.

I like the matting idea as well. Not only will the images look much better for the customer, I think you will see less people adding borders to their images trying to give the same sort of look.

My question (and I breezed through the posts quickly so I hope it hasn't been asked/answered already...) is would matting be available with AND without frames? I think matting is in the realm of the artists presentation of his work, where the frame could be considered to be more of the buyers perogative...

My 2 cents on the subject.

I think matting would be a wonderful addition now with the frames. But please offer gallery style matts as well as traditional matts.

I did not read all of this thread so forgive me if I repeat something someone else already suggested, but I support a matting option. I was surprised we were offering frames without it. I matte every print I buy. I would like the matting option to be available with or without a frame so that a person can save on shipping weight if they wanted but still have their print looking good!

I would definitely order prints with matting if reasonably priced.

Having just uploaded my first 2 prints I've had a chance to 'play' with the frames but decided not to 'recommend' any as none seemed to look right. As many have said before I think matting should be offered before frames.

I'm in the UK and feel postage of framed prints would be prohibitive and look forward to seeing how much matts might cost?

I really don't have the time to cut matts myself (or go on another steep learning curve) anyone got any UK sources they use?

Yes, yes, yes

I am wanting to sell some prints locally, but haven't done so yet cause I hate getting them matted and framed.

I would definitely buy mattes (as long as they were competively price) with the px, and possibly some framed, too.
