LOL - when the villagers complain, threaten them with ads! ;-)

No, no you've got it wrong... when the villagers complain, you threaten them with an adz!

Thanks for the clarification and info - I thought I was losing it. =)

Indeed, surely there is a non-evil incentive possibility in this...

1- I'm all for membership incentives, but I'm not sure a delay would be the right answer. Maybe as an alternative, we should display ads on those images.

2- The issue here is because, to scale better, I shuffled around some files on our image server last March and apparently the script I wrote to resolve bad links missed a few posts. I'll figure out why it missed links in that post and run it again.

All of the images in this thread (Original vs submitted - Before and After) have broken thumbnail images...it's like that on nearly all of the older forum threads. However if you do a reply and requote the original post, the images are refreshed and the link is reconnected.

I remember having to fix some thumbs on our profile pages because of some change you implemented regarding portfolio image and their urls. ???

It would seem that I can view my old favorites from members who left now. Is this the way it supposed to be now or a glitch?
I like to see some old photos again, but it seems that if a photographer closes their account they don't want their portfolio available here anymore. If this current situation is the way it will be where images stay after you are gone, even if you terminate your account, I think it should be noted somewhere. Then members can delete all their images if they wish, or just let their membership expire and leave the images around.

WRT my other thread, it appears that you can view the portfolios of users who's paid membership has expired. I'm not sure if this changed at some point or if I was just mistaken. Case in point, here's a picture from Monica's portoflio (found in an old thread (Reaction Club)):

In any case, I still suggest two ideas:

1) Create an incentive for users to become members by making them wait a short time to load any image that is not a challenge entry.

2) In some old forum threads (like the one linked above) there are ugly links (391492.jpg) to images which should and do exist. For example, the first reply to the above thread by tryals15 - the image exists and is viewable, but it still shows an ugly link. Presumably it's a legacy formatting issue and a quick script to run through posts could probably get the job done?
