I turned scores off after yesterday but based on my average the free fall continues. Will any of us be in positive numbers at the end?? :-)

OK, checked scores. Though my score is still very good (VERY good, by my standards) it really did go way down in the past day and a half - nearly 2/10ths. That seems a lot this late in the game. But that's the way it goes, eh?

You have commented on 62 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.2742.

No scores below 5, wow you ARE generous. My ave was 5.000 bang on.

Converted to a 1-10 scale a 6.274 is something like 3-3,5 average score. So don't feel bad about yourself.

Early today mine bounced up a bit from yesterday, but has recently fallen below where it began the day. Generally don't see swings like that after 200+ votes. Happy with my score as well.

A mixed bag in this one, I found 3 shots to give 10's to and 27 DNMC's.

Make sure you tell those 27 people that you thought their pictures didn't meet the challenge.

I have.

Okay then put a 10 on the 3 that you gave 10's, I want to know if mine was a DMMC or a 10

he did on mine at least :)

I just hope he goes back after the challenge to see maybe why some of them are NOT DNMC.

I can understand his interpretation tho. I think one's definition of "spirit" is easier to convey to a fellow countryman. And from what I am seeing, it is more than about imagery - this theme seems to carry deep feelings as well.

I plan to.

It's hard to convey a message like this one, that's one reason I didn't enter: a good shot of a rugby player doing the Haka was hard to find and a piece of number 8 wire wouldn't have scored that well.

Sounds like YOU didn't understand the challenge.

Maybe not. I figured that if the shot didn't meet the following criteria then it was DNMC
1. indicated which country was being referred to
2. the "spirit" being portrayed was something I could say "that seems like something that could define the spirit of that country"

With only "tourist knowledge" of many of the countries it may be that I didn't relate to some of the shots (I didn't relate that well to some of the shots from my own country either!), but that's part of entering DPC - your shot needs to work for all voters.

But I'm, only one voter. If one of my DNMC's ribbons then it will be evident that I'm the one that was out of sync.

You may be right about WW1 and WW2 but for all other wars your speech is irrelevant. You want honour, don't kill innocent people.

You do realize that the enemy has the same thoughts as you do and thinks killing you is honourable.

Only poor young men and women die in wars. If they were not poor they wouldn't sign up for active duty so in keeping them poor you do not have to implement a draft. Same thing but implemented in different ways.

You do realize that the enemy had the same thoughts in WW1 and WW2 also, right? And every war before that? And ever war to come? And UNLESS YOU HAVE SERVED (and you may correct me if I am wrong), please do not denigrate those who do with your assumptions of their financial status. I can assure you that not everyone who "signs up" or continues to serve is "poor". Thank you.

Thanks for that Melethia. I don't think my answer to this remark would have been so nice...

Voted but did not enter:

You have rated 62 of 62 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.9839.

On the discussion over war / veteran shots on looking back I did not vote any of them above a 6. Nothing to do with the subject it is just that they were not that good.

BTW - I found four 10's and six 9's.
