As expected, probably because I didn't try to replicate a shot of hers. |

What's the over/under on duplicates of this shot?
A heida top 10 and easy to do.
I put it at 5. Takers? |

I saw a few photos in Heida's portfolio that remind me of your style. I have a feeling yours will score very well if it is what I'm thinking.
I entered in Heida as well. Let's see...this could bomb or be decent 6+. It's a deep photograph to me and hopefully Heida voters. I have a bad feeling I will get a 4.9!

Dang, I should have been shooting this morning's fog cover instead of mucking stalls. What was I thinking? Good luck, all. Look forward to seeing everyone's entries. |

I'm in as well and I feel the same as delin. This should be interesting to say the least. |
I'm out. I pulled my shot. I've decided against tormenting myself with low scores this week. I really love her work, and there is no way my shot will represent her work respectively. I wish you all luck. |

I did the same. I have a shot that is definitely mine but PP'ed in what I believe to be the style of Heida. Usually have the purist out there that destroy a score because they "think" that's not exactly how she would do it. I have my reservations for this one but really had nothing for back to school and wanted to get in on a challenge. This is my first one in a while.

Chicken's have rashes?
I entered, pulled it, re-edited, re-edited again, and entered again. So I'm in with all the grace of an ox team. ;) |
Is that an Ox with a rash? |
It might be. We'll let the voters decide.

The challenge clearly states "in the style of" so for me as an entrant I have gone with a creative interpretation... but again it's been proved time and time again that voters don't really read the challenge topic with the same understanding as the entrants... I think the top 5 will show a mix of replicas and personal art "in the style of".
Haven't entered anything seriously for SUCH a long time - was excited and inspired by this challenge as it popped up. Got a great image for my personal collection out of it .... Looking forward to seeing the images tomorrow! |

I think that many people on here, myself included, do not necessarily have an artistic background or particular flare and as such the ability to reproduce a style without replicating a photograph, intentional or not, may well prove very challenging.
I think, however, the biggest question is how will the voters judge the entries. That is to say will replication score higher than originality with similar style. |
That thought in bold is valid not only for this contest but for each & every contest on DPC :)
By the way what I understood is that most of her images are having some mystical feel & some serious mood. I was tempting to enter an portrait after seeing her work on "Asia 2007" but considering the thought in bold I kept it back.I thought most of the voters will like to find which I understood. I may or may not have executed so well in my entery.
