If you want a good shot to get trashed, then the freestudy is the place!

Sometimes whether something is "curious", "odd", or "strange" depends as much upon expectations or perspective as on rarity. Not too late to change your mind.

oooh, ooh!! Mine is curious or odd!

I don't need the DNMC comments right now. But, thanks anyway for the words of encouragement.

Yeah, I agree, but I'm entering mine anyway fully expecting a sub-4 final score. The object is probably only unusual to me.

Even though the challenge did NOT say to photograph an object which will be judged by the majority of voters to be unusual to them.

It did get me to thinking, that in this age of information overload, nothing is unusual anymore. There is no mystery that has not been explored in HD video on NatGeo. An object is only made unusual by being in the wrong place, like a wristwatch on a bunny rabbit.

I really, really like my shot--and was tempted to put it into free study instead. My husband thinks that people won't think it unusual

Only 68 entries with 3 hours remaining? I thought there was more weird stuff than that in most peoples homes.

Do you think that animals and/or people will be considered "objects" for this challenge?

According to Dictionary.com:
ob-ject / noun
1. anything that is visible or tangible and is relatively stable in form.
2. a thing, person, or matter to which thought or action is directed: an object of medical investigation.
3. the end toward which effort or action is directed; goal; purpose: Profit is the object of business.
4. a person or thing with reference to the impression made on the mind or the feeling or emotion elicited in an observer: an object of curiosity and pity.
5. anything that may be apprehended intellectually: objects of thought.
6. Optics. the thing of which a lens or mirror forms an image.
7. Grammar. (in many languages, as English) a noun, noun phrase, or noun substitute representing by its syntactical position either the goal of the action of a verb or the goal of a preposition in a prepositional phrase, as ball in John hit the ball, Venice in He came to Venice, coin and her in He gave her a coin. Compare direct object, indirect object.
8. Computers. any item that can be individually selected or manipulated, as a picture, data file, or piece of text.
9. Metaphysics. something toward which a cognitive act is directed.

Submitted mine but feel it'll go the same way as my still life entry. Trying to learn something new and figured I had to jump in for that to happen. Guessing it'll wind up a high 4 low 5. I thought it was a cool unusual object. Hope I at least get some comments on it.

Good luck everyone

I'm sure that I will be pinged for my photo. Sometimes that's the price you pay for trying to be different. So what's another low score?

I have a stonking shot for this challenge and if I'd shot it with the lensbaby it would be my FS shot. That said it will garner more than its fair share of DNMC votes as its something I see daily.

*edited to add*

Scrolling up and reading my last post this shot is something normal in an unusual place so I'd vote myself down as well lol.

Joining with other frequent early challenge lamenters: Here is an image from the day before the "Unusual Objects" challenge began. (Not a self portrait). Just as well. Captured another image the next day that probably meets the spirit of the challenge better.

A self portrait should do fine in this challenge =)

Maybe you can get some inspiration here? unusual hotels
Refresh the page a few times and each time you'll get to see different unusual hotels. LOL some of them even in my country.

Or this one is nice too unusual planes
But those are all normal objects in unusual places. This challenge will be a difficult one, because what's unusual???? Everything is here with one purpose or other and very usual for some people.
LOL, even a tree is unusual for those who live in concrete envirements.

Hope we don't get to see dressed up animals, but then, even that is very usual in some parts of this earth.
Oh well, I might have an idea, I saw something very unusual the other day, have to take a picture of it (again).
