Contrary to popular belief...this doesn't always work. My hubby trashed some of my stuff doing laundry early on. He now has to do all his own laundry...none of mine to be included!! :P |

I swear one of my sisters knew how to control shrinkage. On numerous occasions she borrowed sweaters of mine, would wash them after use, and for some unexplicable reason, they would shrink just enough that they would fit her, but not me.

My hubby turned his first load pink, I suspect for the same reason. |

I haven't tried it but this is supposed to work;
Soak it in a mix of non-soap (synthetic) shampoo for an hour or so, a capful per gallon of water, rinse, then gently stretch to shape and let dry.
Btw, most shampoos are synthetics, so whatever cheap stuff you have.

| At least you have a sweater for your dog when it gets cold out. I feel your pain, I have found out the hard way on wool and the dryer as well, it's amazing how much it shrinks..... |

I did that 25yrs ago & she hasn't let me do laundry since....Lol

I did that to my father's hand-knitted sweater from his sister once. The tiny version is sooo cute! :)

| If you have a full-size mannequin, it may be possible to soak the sweater in hot water to loosen the protein cross-links again, then stretch the wet sweater sweater over the mannequin body and let it dry there. But usually, once the wool has curled up, it's almost impossible to stretch out again. |

...while washing/drying it. It is now the size of something a toddler would wear. Are there ways to un-shrink wool sweaters?
