Thanks for putting it together Prash. I enjoyed meeting everyone. I'll post a few shots when I get the chance to empty my card.

Great shots, guys. Wish I could have been there but maybe you saved some of the good stuff for when I can get over there.

Hey Prash, thanks for putting this together. I'll wander over to flickr and see what you've got over there. Here's a few grab shots from the day, for those who missed all the fun.

Nice group title. It looks like we're a group of people who don't know how to use computers. ;-)

Hey guys,

I just wanted to thank all those who showed up. It was a day filled with fun, rejoice, exciting lens and sensor lingo, and spicy burritos.

Kudos for making it a success:-)

I will post a link to a public group where each one of us can upload our pictures, since DPC portfolio is likely to fall short in space for all that we shot today.

Thanks again!!!

Those that attended (please let me know if I missed someone by mistake):

Already a member: Joe, Philip, Prash.

Mark, Tim, Steve: I have sent an invitation to you to join our members only group, please check your Flickr or personal email.

Kei, Brennan, Dennis: If you havent already, please PM me your email id where I can send you an invitation to join this member's only group on Flickr.

P.S. I found out that with Google Groups, the quota is limited to only 100MB, while with a Flickr group, we can add more stuff, though one person may upload only 100Mb worth of pics per month, still better than the Google one.

Here is the group's link where you can upload your pictures!. You will have to become a member of Flickr first, then of this group (by invitation only, so please send me a PM with your email as shown above). Then you will need to upload the pictures (downsized please) to Flickr, then share it with this group. If you have questions on how to do that, please feel free to ask in this thread.

Time : 10:00 AM Pacific Time

Place: Lake Merritt, Oakland, CA

Meeting Point:
Directions: Get directions from your place to "Grand Ave & Bellevue Ave, Oakland, CA 94610". Then enter the park's parking lot on Bellevue Ave. Go a bit farther if you can, park, proceed to the gazebo shown in the thumbnail above. There is usually plenty of parking towards the lakeside park, so I am told.

Weather: Current conditions. Looks like its gonna be partly cloudy. Hopefully it wont rain.

[1] There is supposedly a parking fee to park there, I dont know the amount. Please carry enough cash to pay for that.

[2] Not sure if there are any eateries inside the park. It may be a good idea to grab lunch around 1-ish or so if everyone is ok with that. If we have to take the cars out of the lot to go for lunch, we need to confirm if a day-parking-pass is available. If we dont want to come back to the park post-lunch, we can delay it and spend more time in/around the park.

[3] Please carry rain protection (for your camera at least).

[4] We will wait at the gazebo till around 10:30AM or so for everyone to gather, upon which we will start moving. If you dont see anyone there, please call at my cell# that I will PM you shortly. Since not everyone confirmed yet, a simple headcount wont help.. so please try to be there on time. In any event, it should be easy to spot a group of anxious looking faces with camera gear;-)

My mobility is a bit limited these days, so if I make it at all I am likely to just go straight over to the bird sanctuary area rather than the gazebo ... probably between 10:15-10:30 since I am always running late ... if I make it Isaac will be with me -- funny, since it's a shot from the last time we were there that he picked for the 1000th challenge ...

... though he'll be using a different camera this time.

I'll meet up with Steve and hope that he rode his motorcycle!!!

I am in for meeting around 10 around lake merritt. I wouldn't expect too much rain early in the morning(before noon) but that is just a hunch. I will be coming from SF, but I think the weather will cooperate. I have mpeters number in case I am late and can't find you guys. :)

Ive been shadowing this thread for a few days and am planning on being there at 10 tomorrow. I used to live in Adam's Point, a few blocks from the meeting spot, and that area has the best weather in the bay area. Rain and clouds tends to clump at the coast and at the hills, often leaving Lake Merit as the only clear spot on misty days; so if the weather looks dubious where you are, chances are the weather will be better at the lake.

I'm game and planning on meeting at 10. Let's hope for the best but a sprinkle or two isn't going to be a big deal... If something changes early in the morning, Prash has my cell. I'll assume it's on unless I hear otherwise.

You know how Bay Area weather is; could be just as predicted, or could be plus or minus 4 hours. I'm coming from west Sonoma County, it might be raining when I leave, or not. Only decision for me is ride the motorcycle or drive the car. I'll certainly check here at seven-ish in the AM before I leave to pick up rasai.

Guys, what do you think??? I am on the edge here:-)

I'm leaning towards coming down. Stormy skies make nice photographs. Will check the thread tomorrow a.m. for any last minute changes.
