I only had one entry that was below my average, I didnt enter one challenge (and I didnt enter week 9 because it wasnt part of the olympics). Not to sound bitter, but I figured I should have been higher up in the overall. Did i get a -2 for the final week non-entry?

Also, considering that the final week only had 2 members per team counting, should it really carry the same weight as the other weeks that had 5 members counting toward the team score?

Sorry if this comes across as sore-loserish... but I do have a lot of pride in how my team did, and in my own performance, so it just doesnt seem right to me.

Yeah, the missed weeks still counted as -2 for players since they chose not to participate. As for the team scores, it's not an average, so weighting would not come into play. The top 2 scores were counted for each team, so it averages out and actually helped all the teams more than it would hurt them. But it helped them equally.

Hope this helps!

I'm not against the idea of having scoring based on a players starting average. Both are equally viable. The fact your alternate scoring was different has more to do with the fact you didn't count the same weeks, rather than the difference in methods.

If you look at the week by week comparison you would see that the differences had everything to do with the methods used. For example the first weeks that they were the same challenges the team scores were very different.

Completely correct. Up to the skipped week, the scores varied greatly from the official method. The week missed was not as much a factor.

Way to go Gord!!! Congratulations on the honour of Best Scoring Average for the Season.

Also... congratulations to Globetrotters on taking out team honours.

Finally, a HUGE thank you to Kevin for all his efforts running the Alternative Scoring, especially in the face of some considerable criticism.

Oh... and I must add... a massive thanks to everyone in the Australian team... was an honour to be in a team with such a great group of people.

So... any idea when the final unofficial results will be tallied?

So as to not detract from the DPCO 4 official trophy presentation, I'm posting this week's alternate scoring results before Dirt_Diver.

DPCO-4A Week #07 results: //photographyvoice.com/journals/dpc%20olympics.aspx

It's a close one going into the final week! See the note on the site (and in this thread) about how scoring will take place in this week's train/lighting challenges.

Yeah, sorry. Been busy at work this week. Not busy with Good Friday ceremonies at all (I observe Good Thursday), but no services for that. Will get them up shortly.

As for next week, I think I'll run it anyway UNLESS it looks like participation drops off too much. I may just do 4 scores per team or something too.

And Happy Easter for you as well!

Thanks... lets hope for some entries, make it a good finish.

Just checked them and they are. Do you see an issue?

Just curious about IreneM's flora ribbon...her score was .5272 above her average...unless I am looking at the wrong stats.

Her starting average (10 challenges prior to the start of the season) for the alternate scoring was 6.5131, so she only posted a gain of 0.3717 on that great shot.

Ahh....that was the stat I was missing. No worries...thanks for that.

Week #8 of the Alternate Scoring *WILL* go on as planned.

There are still 3 teams in contention and 8 weeks were planned, so gonna keep this schedule so the season can play out.

However, as many have worried that players will take time off after this week's challenges and not enter next week.

So to keep it fair, I will limit the scores to the lowest number of entries entered by the top 3 teams: Canada III, Globetrotters, and Australia. If they all enter at least 5, then the scoring will be as normal. If the lowest number for those three teams is four or three, we'll go with that.

I encourage you all to go ahead and compete to round this season out as there is plenty of time to get in an entry in either the Light or Train challenges.

Thanks!

Now, I am sure your busy with Good Friday ceremonies, so I'm not trying to rush you, but will there be Alternate Scoring for the Flora/Fauna from this week? Also, any resolution if teams are missing participants next week?
