Yeah I saw that as well, but I would like to think that the majority of my voters were non-participants since I have an average at 6.1 there and 5.5 with participants. Nevertheless, still happy! |

I noticed an interesting statistic with my entry:
Place: 27 out of 454
Avg (all users): 6.5062
Avg (commenters): 7.6667
Avg (participants): 6.2110
Avg (non-participants): 7.1132
Views since voting: 51
Views during voting: 252
Votes: 162
Comments: 11

This is the highest differential between participants and non-participants I've ever had (or seen with a limited trawl). I'd expect to see this sort of difference perhaps for a themed challenge whereby people who had struggled nobly to match the brief might mark down an entry which was nice to look at but a bit of a cop-out relative to the challenge brief. However, in a FS it makes little sense to me. Any theories??
For the record, I'm perfectly happy with my score - I was hoping for 6+; I'm just curious about this stat.

A possible crop option. Adjust levels, dodged the spray on the crashing wave to bring out the highlights, sharpened. |

I took the liberty to do some PP to it as I would have done it, but I know there are more creative folks here that can do a far more better job.
Other aspect that I think might have made it stronger is to lower the POV more at water level when shooting it.

Comment left on image. Looking at the challenge results, I see many photos voted low that I thought would score higher. Want to attribute it to low voting, but the average was around 5.5, so that isn't exactly true. My entry didn't score nearly as well as I expected, possibly due to poor choice of title.

I am a bit disappointed with this, esp the difference between non comment votes and comment votes.
I'd at least like some comments on the picture - I don't think 2 comments is enough for me to "learn" what went wrong.

well, I just got home from 5 hours in emergency and am high on percocet, so no more comments this time around. The reason is umbilical hernia related, but I'll be fine, just need rest and drugs. lol.

I got through them all, and hopfeully that didn't ruin my view on the last photos.

Only 13 comments from me so far this time around. It's been a weird week and I haven't had a lot of time.
I plan on doing a bit of a blitz this evening, but probably won't do more than 20 max.
Ah well, I'm not going to stress about it. I'll do what I do every month and that's what I'll do. If it's 20, or if it's 100, whatever. |
