Welcome vawendy one. : ) Just relax and things will be fine. My second entry got DQ'd for a rule infraction. Unless your entry is running near the front of the pack, or there is nothing obviously "rule bent" about it, there is a good chance that no one will notice and ask for a validation. It's all part of learning how the site works.
The side challenges are the most fun for me, because I get to meet fun people, and share a lot of good comments about how to improve my skills without chancing getting a low score. Even the best ones here still sometimes post a clunker in a challenge.

Thanks for the tissue! All I had was toilet paper, and my nose was getting quite sore!

I went back and followed the instructions for resizing, etc. Luckily, the color profile was correct, and there wasn't a huge difference between my way and the suggested way. The suggested way was a tad cleaner, but strangely enough, the color was a little different. It was slightly warmer in my version, and I liked the warmer feel. However, the tad cleaner would have been well worth it.

Hopefully in a month or so I can become a full member.

What two challenges have you entered?

Someone says to read The Unauthorized Beginner's Guide. And I skipped 90% of the steps mentioned there. I just took my corrected photo in photoshop and selected "save for web" and made sure it was less than 640 pixels and <150 kb. How bad is this? Should I go cry?

And then there's portfolio's, and I can't upload pix because I did the stripped down free membership. I was having a good time until I started reading this thread!! I think I'll go cry anyway... (and that's before I see any comments on my photo!)

Hey! Take it easy on yourself.
I did the same things as you. Took a photo, resized in some sort of manner, uploaded it, started this thread, found out about the tutorials, realised that there is a stack to read before I get it right. Still, it's a learning game here and everyone is very friendly and encouraging.

The best thing I did was to become a member and use the Welcome link. The photo that I have in for judging definitely would have been better if I had got to the tutorials and followed the recommendations but you get that on big jobs. I'll get better.

Take this (passes a tissue) blow your nose and smile. You know you'll get better!
Oh, and welcome!

Hope you enjoy it here, have fun:)

Hi and thanks, I'm on the steep learning curve. (re Gill: I have been here for 18 months so I don't know the name.)
