I feel like I have been overly critical. I almost never participate in voting these days, and only leave comments when I feel inspired to do so (rather than as a requirement). And my own submission hasn't fared too well either. But I am very grateful to have participated. I have enjoyed the images and I have enjoyed the comments attached to them! The company was most agreeable.

Ok, I have a question. ??

If you love one of the images in this side challenge and want to make it a fave. Obviously you cannot fave it where you see it in the thread cause the image does not belong to that person.

So that means that after the voting/commenting period is over, that jdannels will need to put the usernames of the entrants in the details section of the photos and let them stay there for a little while so I will know who's portfolio to go and visit to make the pic a fave. Otherwise I will not know who's port to go and look at to mark the photo as a fave, I need to know the photog after the fact.

Is that going to be done? Please?

Yes.

Are we allowed to enter an image that has already been entered in another challenge (say, for example, in the official Best of 2008? : ))

I was just "calling people out" to see if there was anyone else paying attention.

I prefer to comment first anyway to avoid the temptation of viewing others comments before entering my own and being unduly swayed by their opinion(s).

And it's more fun than just saying "bump".

My guess is that posthumous will pick his winner's independently. If you would like to choose which shots are your favorites and give it a ribbon of your own, then I think Don wants you to comment on all the entries. I could be wrong, but that is what I thought.
Leaving a few comments on those you enjoy or want to critique is encouraged and carries no penalty. :)

Yup, very easygoing deal.

Ditto chromey. Already dropped a comment - is that a life sentence?
01/17/2009 01:03:21 AM · #13
Yup, I'm puzzled: the word was "If you want to be a judge, you must comment on all of the images"

So, if you don't want to be a judge, you can comment on some?

And how, ultimately, will they be judged? I assumed Posthumous was simply going to be The Judge :-)

I'm okay with whatever the plan is, so I am not concerned, just puzzled.

It looks like either my comments are so "spot on" perfect that no one else need bother, or that this Posthumous open, despite best intentions, is a failure.

Don, if you could ask or add to your instructions that entrants to put their username in the title of the email also, that would be nice in light of all the email scams floating around and so I can keep a list of whose each entry belongs too. Hopefully later tonight I will put up the first batch of entries, I already have 4 or 5 entries!

Joe, in case I forgot to include it, the email from yanko@yahoo.com is my entry. Thanks.

Duly noted. I just received my entry from pointandshoot@hotmail.com. I have a good feeling about it! :P

Let us say one wanted to judge such a contest. Someone way under the radar. Someone whose talent is laughable. Someone who is further underground than the "established underground" with their conformist bent. Someone so far beyond the pale that this person's opinion would be either ignored or universally scorned.

Where would this person sign up? Other the the commitment to comment any every entry what are the qualifications? Are there any swell parting gifts?

I took the original post to be saying that anyone who commented on all the entries would become a judge, and ONLY those who commented on all the entries. Which I presumed to mean that these individuals would be polled for their rankings, or somesuch. I could be wrong. I often am.

R.

I ain't polling anybody. It's all honor system.

Requirements to be a judge:

1. Two years extensive study of Dada, to be witnessed and verified by bluebirds.
2. Must cast a shadow at noon.
3. Have access to chocolate and a post office.

And yes, composite all you want. After this is over, when and if you put your photo in your portfolio, it would be nice for you to include your editing/creating steps.

I'd assume so: "DO as much or as little editing as you like. Draw the whole thing from scratch if you want."
