Five comments and none of them helpful. "Nice shot" isn't helpful...

You have rated 78 of 79 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 16 images (20%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 3.3974.

Yah, looks like someone is a bit bitter :P

Hahaha... nah, the ratings I get do not affect the way I score. I just didn't think there were a lot of really good images in this one.

someone just gave me a 1 because it was at 6.1340 and at 179 votes. I dont think my entry warrants a 1, but then again. Every fool has their foolish taste. At least I am above a 6. So I be happy with that I guess

Just curious.. Isn't fill Flash something different than just hitting your subject with a flash in the dark?

My understanding of filling the flash is to even the light difference between the ligiting on the subject and its surrounding so it doesnt have a harsh difference.

In otherwords, no harsh shadows and even light.

You know they do not know whose shot is whose, they are blind to this until someone (not them) sends in a ticket askign how this was done, or if it is illegal or asking for validation.

There is no big conspiracy against you.

(well apart from the one that I am hatching to drag you off to my cave)

I'm sure there's no conspiracy to get me.

But they (SC) do have the ability to look at our submissions during voting according to scalvert. Here is an excert from this Thread.

ADDED: I AM IN NO WAY ACCUSING ANY SC MEMBER OF THIS PRACTICE. IF I REALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS OCCURING I WOULD LEAVE THE SITE IMMEDIATLY. But I do feel it is important to understand the rules of engagement.

Can SC find out who entered a shot if a validation request was not made for a particular image?

We can, but it takes a little digging. I'll sometimes peek (after voting if I'm doing that) to confirm a hunch that I know who shot it. I'm usually right. ;-)

How about this, let's eliminate the people from the equation (I have)...can you agree that, ideally, a contest should be free from bias?

Of course, and wherever possible, we already do that. For example if we see an entry that look suspicious, we can click a button that shows just the "photographer's comments" section (without the name), and those details can be enough of an explanation that there's no need to request an original. The nature of the validation process precludes true anonymity though since tickets and PM responses typically include the photographer's name.

Yay; got a fave :-))) And both commenters like the same things I did about the shot. The score is now officially irrelevant!

I should have known this was coming after irratating the SC yesterday. It's all good though. I spent 0 time on this shot, I only submitted it because I felt obligated to my DPC Olympic team. It will validate easily in 10 days. I am concerned that the SC has the ability to vote and view our shots prior to the end of the challenge. What else can they do? I know I signed the contract and sent my money knowing the SC has the last word, but I just didn't have a full understanding of what that meant at the time. This will be my last challenge for awhile. I wish I knew who asked for my DQ and the reasoning. I bet I could clear up any questions they might have, like how I used raw conversion and unsharp mask to make it look better.

Status: We need proof that your submission is valid. Please waste no time in submitting proof.

Signed a very frustrated DPCer. Off to my whatever side challenge...

Sorry, see my post (above/below depending on how you look at forums). I've got the brown wrapped up!

You are now SO NOT on my card list this year.
