How sad is that! and even sadder that I never heard of them :(
But in terms of Xmas shopping at least here in Manchester you cannot walk at all when you are brave enough to go to Market St.! I cannot see the credit crunch really. Not in the street.
ETA: have to say most retailers are offering discounts so it may be that.

I know its not nice, but i did get an excellent deal from them last week, they were offering 25% off, unfortunatley it was an attempt to build its cash flow...
There will be more bad news in 2009 and the UK & US will go into depression

I'm wondering how christmas will shake out. Most if not all retailers, especially the big ones, get all their xmas inventory on credit - that was done in the spring so it was before the crunch.
If christmas doesn't go well (low sales or lots of discounting so no profits) there may be a really bad retail hangover in early '09. Even now Circuit City is on it's deathbed and relatively robust BestBuy looks rather empty the last few times I was in there.
