oh, i didnt know others existed. i guess that makes sense - theres no reason canon would stop making sensors for their own cameras now after such success in the dslr category of cameras

Try to find a discussion between software writers for RAW conversions. They were very cryptically discussing RAW conversion without demosaicing, aka no Bayer sensor in this or a future generation.

I doubt either canon or nikon are going foveon anytime soon... part of their new processing systems is greater demosaic-ing (sp?) accuracy. i think theyll stick with bayer filters for now and maybe use foveon sensors next time theres a processor update

This is not about Foveon sensors.
Fuji, Canon and Nikon all have unique patents for multi-color capture on one photosite.

the admin is saying the price will be over $8,000. Nikon always releases pro cameras for around 5,500. I agree with Ken Rockwell - the price drop of the d3 leaves a $5,500 slot for the d3x. And i'm watching nikon carefully - the d700 almost convinced me to go nikon, but i got myself on my school's waiting list for the 5d mark ii instead.

You too? If I had just held off on my D300 I could have gone with the D700 and gotten a full frame?!?!!!! I don't know if I could have waited that long but had I known I would have waited for sure.

a quick google search on Nikon D3x shows a lot of rumors being posted besides Rockwell's. One even suggests they will cut loose the d3x moniker and call it a D4.

Everyone's favorite Senor Rockwell has that on his page. Is there any validity to it, or is he making shit up again?

And will it make the D3 drop in price? :o
