I did the same thing with this one-

I have no idea what I did post processing it. I usually just do auto lvl's and see if that makes it any better, if not I play around with the curves not knowing what I'm doing. That shot though, I did something and it saturated the red rock really well and inverted or did something to the clouds that made them just pop right out. Don't know what I pushed, so I haven't been able to do it again on the same original photo or even test and play around with others to see if I could get similar effects.

The first thing that I noticed is smaller highlight in the right (on the screen) eye in the first one. It makes the eye look a bit off in the 2nd one.
And a little less contrast and sharpness between the mouth and nose in the first one than in the second.

The good one has less contrast and more saturation at a guess

Since I got my D300 I know every entry I submit to DPC I keep a record of what I did and with which settings and save it in a folder along with the original image, any drafts, and the final submission. Maybe I should do it for personal pieces as well.

Here is the image I thought I remembered how to redo. I really play around during the editing process and don't always remember how I achieved the look, so I started writing things down in notepad just in case.

The good one:

The one I worked on from scratch (That is just not as good):

Anyone know how I can get my images looking the same. Have I forgotten a step?
