Don't buy cheap filter. Either get a good one or none at all. Anything under $30 is cheap and most likely should not be put in front of the lens.

You're welcome, glad I could help.

That's what I needed! And yes, I upgraded to a Rebel Xsi a few days ago, just haven't changed it yet. Thank you!

Neither. 18-55 is the focal length range. You're looking for the filter diameter. It may or may not be written on the lens.
You'd probably get a very fast answer if we know which camera and lens we are dealing with.

Yes, I'm sorry, I mean a UV like this one.

Where would it be written? I'm confused. Would it be 18mm or 55mm? Or neither?

It should be written on the side of the lens or on the front where the other info is.

But now that I saw what camera you use i'm puzzled by your question. Doesn't that camera have an automatic lens cap?

Are you referring to a UV filter when you say 'a clear lens cap'?

Greetings,

I have another stupid question, and I couldn't find it anywhere else on the forum, so I'll be the one to ask.
I want to get one of those clear lens covers (I hear Tiffin is good) but there are a lot of different sizes on the site, and I have no idea which one to get. The lens I have now is the kit lens 18-55. So what size should I get?

Thank you all so much!
