Thanks, John - I used a little Lucisarts and fractalius on that one.

I've been using LucisArts and fractalius Photoshop plug-ins probably too much, but I'm not sick of them yet.

I really like which ever plug-in allows you pp work like this one. My favorite shot of the bunch!

Thanks Kathrine, You got some nice shots while we were up on the deck of the capital. I should have did some lens changes and got some other view points.

I like the rock star photos too.

I took a shot at the zoo that I like well enough that I'm going to toss it into the free study this month. It'll be only my second entry in 2008! (I'm so pathetic).

I started to sort through all my pictures from Saturday lastnight. With them were about 120 shots from my kids school carnival that I took Thursday. Kind of delayed getting some pics posted here. Will try to get some on here tomorrow. Got a few cool shots at the Zoo, Nothing too special downtown but I'll post a couple anyway.

As promised.

We had a great time. In attendance were

strangeghost
smartypants
ironworker
bugzeye
kirbic
fsteddy
Elmakias
kkenison
Plus Carol S (neighbor), Strange's wife and a few of Smartypants' friends

We have a few awesome group shots (taken after iron and bugz had to depart our ranks - sorry guys. Elmakias doesn't want any of the group photos published yet because he's going to do some editing after his computer is back from the shop, and he doesn't want his thunder stolen. He promises to make us look like the cover of a Grunge band album. Here's an early outtake while Adam was getting his Bees set up:

Well...I had actually decided to come with the kids and was going to send a PM requesting all the directions. When I found out Tess, my Goldendoodle, had eaten a roll dental floss! Not the container...just the floss itself. Well, that is a very serious situation...the thread can act as a knife and cut through her intestines, as it does not brake down in the system. Luckily, after x-rays, it looks like the intestines are processing it ok and we have to keep a close eye on her as this "comes through". Any sign of illness and she will need surgery...which we cannot afford right now ($3K). Finger's crossed.

I hope you all had a wonderful day...it was beautiful out!! Looking forward to seeing the shots!!

I am sorry I didn't make it back there tonight. I was planning on it all day. I got a bit of sunburn this afternoon and it took its toll on me. I laid down to take a cat nap and ended up sleeping nearly 4 hours. By the time I woke up it was already dark outside so I figured it was a little late to get back to Madison and make it worth while. I hope you guys all had a blast.

As always I enjoyed hanging with you guys today and will be looking forward to the next GTG. Hopefully some more of you will be able to make it.

I am going to head out the door in about 30 minutes. I was actually up early and ready to roll. But I am waiting on the wife and kids to get dressed and ready. my youngest daughter woke me up at 5 minutes to 6 and asked if it was time to go to the zoo yet. lol

I will be bringing 80-200 and a bunch of primes.

Bugz, what lens are you planning on bringing? I was figuring on bringing my 20,80-200, & 300 or 500. Along with my flash & 3x teleconverter. Also it will be me & my 8 year old daughter. She has her own digital camera, a Canon.

Last post here folks. See you all tomorrow morning at 9 at the Camera Company on the Square (see message above). I've sent my directions and contact info to everyone who's requested it. PM me if you still want in.

Tomorrow night is looking on the clear side (before storms move in late) - maybe a trip out with some telescopes for all you night-sky newbies?

I hope your right about Bratfest taking some traffic away from the Campus area. I have been thinking that with it being Memorial Day weekend more people will be drawn into the Madison area. At least there isn't a football game going on.

I have had a change in plans too. I still plan on making the Farmer's market, but I have an ailing relative to go see while I am down here, not too far from the zoo though.

Was looking forward to meeting some real-life DPC'ers, but work demands are going to get in the way. Have fun everybody. Sounds like it's going to be a great time.

The kids are always up for the zoo...well just about any outing for that matter!!

Brian's account is what I'm thinking too. Chances are we'd probably be heading off to the zoo by about noon or so, maybe a little earlier. I'm thinking that we'll eat around 2:30 to 3:00 at my house so people can get breakfast goodies at the market, we can converge on a restaurant on State St. or get snacks at the zoo. Just be hungry by 3.

BTW, Adam pointed out that the Brat Fest is going on and that may drain some people away from the zoo and downtown tomorrow.

Starts off @ 9AM with the farmer market on the capital square, then although it has not been mentioned, Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch? I would imagine some sort of snack or drink stop would be in the mix. Then it is off to the Zoo, Which is free addmission if you were wondering. Parking might be a bit of a problem but that is also free. From there I believe it is off to Johns house for the BBQ. Which I am sadly going to miss, But I am going to rush my butt back to Madison as soon as I am able for the night time shooting.
