Do tonemapped pics count as HDR or vice versa? I was wondering where the difference lies. As I currently understand it HDR can have tonemapping as part of the PP but not vice versa.

For HDR, It's either combing at least 2 or the usual 3 seperate exposures shot, or working with one RAW(or jpg) by exposure tweaking the highlights/shadows contrast/brightness and save them as say 3 different images and them combine. So multiple exposures count as HDR where as tone mapped ones come from one single image file and are not considered HDR?

Do it YOUR way and teach us the secrets.. there is a posting thread I made for you to post too

Thanks

Newbie to side challenges so is the idea we take lots of HDR pics and post them here? Is it one a day or just random?

I've only tried HDR once and it I sucked! I think part of the problem was I left the IS on when on the tripod so it was all 3 pics didn't line up at all!!

1 a day for 14 days. I will add you both to the list, we start Sunday, Thanks.

Sign me up please. I think I can handle 14 days, 14 out of 30 would be good , too.
I've got to use Photomatix more and I always liked HDR. Might even be interesting using a 105mm Macro lens.

Hey Mak I think I'll give this a try, as I really enjoy HDR. I'm glad it's not thirty days as I am fairly busy with college and all. I think I can keep up with it for two weeks though.

We'll give it a day or two to get a few folks involved

There will be no subject matter, a big free study so shoot whatever you like.
