Framing is the idea of positioning your subject(s) within your photograph... There are many ways to do this and there are some guidelines for it as well... I hesitate to use the word 'rules'... It's well worth your while to understand what the 'guidelines' are and how to use them effectively though :)

Try this tutorial.... its pretty simple but will answer questions like this one.
