hahahahaha

I don't understand why people are posting pictures of a challenge that starts tonight. Why would you ruin it for everyone?

I got two images i like, but entered the yellow challenge instead. No worries - I like my yellow, but it won't ribbon.

How do you think these might have done?

Damn it, I did it again ... I went out and shot for both Open challenges thinking that one was Open and one was Member ...

Aagh! Me too. I rejected my abandoned building in favor of my yellow entry. I'm sure I'll regret it.

Oh well, as with you, now I can just pick the one best from both subjects (which also won't ribbon).

Something that was built at one point or another, hope that helps, lol

Hard to tell from the thumbnails and only member registered members are allowed to view photos :-(.

I managed to get out a bit yesterday and on sunday. Sunday was OK but overcast, yesterday I did get rained on a bit. Still, it gave me an excuse to get out on the bike which I've not done for months and I got what I think is a pretty good shot too.

Where I am, this challenge (my first btw) was quite easy. Heck, the picture I submitted I shot on a walk around my neighbor hood.

I think most of the UK is being poured on right now - storm and flood warnings all over the place. My few shots from yesterday were crap but they'll have to do as I think most of us are rained in heavily... was going to swap to shooting something Yellow but I'd rather submit a crap external photo than an average one indoors anyday...

I'm soooo disappointed. When I saw this challenge I immediately thought of this place;

The inside is just awesome. It's about an hour's drive and we've been planning to revisit, but the weather this week was HORRID. Today we see the sun for the first time since Christmas and Becky-Lee and I have such terrible colds that we wouldn't be able to see through a viewfinder anyway :(

'SNOT FAIR!!!!

I just realized that my last basic editing challenge was in June of '06! Sheesh.

I am having a difficult time with choosing the crop for this one. It would be very easy with a larger display of the image, but I have to take into consideration what the impact will be on THIS site, with the smaller size.

I supppose I'll just choose MY favorite and roll the dice. Looking forward to having a score to watch. I've not entered many challenges over the last year and I'm getting started again so that when the league starts (if it ever does) I'll be back in the swing. My "Rivers" entry is tanking, but I'm looking forward to this challenge.

I've had more people stopping to ask what I was doing on this one than most anything else. I think when they see the camera, they are afraid you are a reporter or code inspector looking for safety violations.

No, don't be sorry, it's on me. I was just having a bit of fun with words. A similar cliche might be "if a tree falls in the woods, does it make any sound?" (or something like that).

The first time he drove by and asked how I was doing; the second time he just drove by to make sure I knew he was still watching me. I dunno'; maybe at my age I should be flattered someone thinks I'm daring enough to get in trouble!

Maybe you shoulda flashed him.

:::sputter::: My flashing days, if I ever had any, are long since ancient history.

Doubt it. I had one of my Wolfhounds with me. There's nothing like a tall, shaggy giant dog with really big teeth to encourage people to keep their distance ;-) People might not see the cell phone I take with me when I'm out and about, but you really can't miss one of the dogs!

Since no one has answered you, I'm going to try...

In basic mode, the main idea is that if what you do affects the whole picture, then it's usually allowed. If it only affects some pixels, then it's not allowed. For example, you could increase the contrast - on the whole photo. You could also adjust the saturation (of all colors or just one), as long as you do it for all the pixels in the shot. Someone once showed me how you could make it look like selective desat, but you can't really do "selective" anything.

I hope that makes sense.

I'm fairly new to submitting photos to challenges here(although I've been lurking for about a year now :-) )
Now I'm not so sure about these basic editing rules, am I allowed to change the colours in the shot(using sauration in colorize mode) an use the adjustment layer in normal mode but with another opacity then 100% or has it to be 100%? sorry if this question is stupid but i couldnt get a real answer by reading the editing rules...As i'm understanding them I could use any adjustment layer but in normal mode...does this mean opacity on 100%?
another question would be: am I allowed to use the shadow highlight adjustment (it's not an adjustment layer so I'm a bit confues. wouldnt want my picture being disqualified )
