It seems like I finally caught up on my sleep so I'll be editing and posting more pics soon.

I promised some links to web sites to learn photoshop and other graphics software. Here it is:

//movielibrary.lynda.com/html/index.asp
I recomend all movies by Chris Orwig. They are all great.
https://movielibrary.lynda.com/authors/author/?aid=43

For those who want to learn lighting get video by Dean Collins. It is not cheap but I think it is very good. You can probably find parts of this on youtube.

That is such an unfair observation considering I was taking a nap while you posted this.

Anyway, some shots from yesturday at Arches:

Nikolai ( Nikolai1024) must not sleep. Here are a few people pics of our journey. Hopefully in a few days I'll be home and able to sort through the rest and post more.

We are having a great time although the last two days have been wind and sand so bad sky and light for shots. Still beautiful down here.

Nikolai in my shot. Nikolai, Tanya, Michael ( Agaricus), Cindy (HairGirl)

Becky ( rjkstesch) & Nikolai - what are they taking?

In my shot again! Long way down. Greg holding on to Becky while she gets the shot.

What we found in our hotel room? A Scorpion!

So we took him with us to Goblin Valley to take photos of him

Becky's mobile office is her secret to excelent GTG planning.

You can always count on Nikolai to upload tons of pictures before anybody else. I'm envious that I couldn't make it this year.

Have fun guys and be careful climbing without me ;)

We're all here and are taking pictures like crazy. No time to even download them.

Tomorrow, Moab!

We're picking up Nick, and will leave within the hour.

Becky

See you there.

We arrived Zion today around 3 and spent until 8 PM shooting. Great weather here (although windy) but minimal clouds to spice up the wide shots. Great sunset with the moon almost full over the cliffs. Sorry, no shots to post yet as I have not had time to download them. I'm going to get up first light and shoot some sunrise shots and then head out to Torrey.

Hope to see some of you at the burger joint!

We just landed at SLC. We are going to get our bags and to the hotel. Does anyone from SLC want to get together today?

I hope you all have a great time shooting and stay safe, don't get too close to some of the edges down there; the bottom is a LONG way down! I really wish I could be down there with you guys!

Hi, everyone.

Three are on their way, the other two of us will join in the morning.

We've had our bad weather and will not be clearing and having warmer temps. I am still hoping to see broken scattered clouds. They make for great shots.

I expect to arrive in the early afternoon. I hope to pick up Nick between 9 - 10 am, and then it's about a 4 hour drive to Torrey. There's a great burger joint in Torrey that has homemade greasy, yummy lunch food. I bet we'll be stopping there.

I'll check at the office for other arrivals when we arrive. I'd like to go out shooting around 3:30 - 4:00. Let me know if you're coming in after that, so that you can be included when you arrive.

See you soon.

I'm bringing my Micro 105mm. I also rented a Fisheye 16mm. Should be fun.

I will have to borrow macro from someone. Even if I had one, my back would break if I add another lens to my bag.

In Vegas but wanting to be in Zion shooting (side note - #29 was pretty hot on the roulette talbe last night). Oh well, tommorrow we will be. BTW - the drive from Twin Falls to Vegas on the back highways of Nevada is one lonely stretch of road! Given the right time of day and light they could yield some great landscapes though.

See you all soon.

Yep - cold to hot. Layers are good. Torrey (Capitol Reef) will range from mid 30's to mid 60's. We'll be shooting before dawn at least one day, so have clothes for the 30's. Light weight gloves (simple knit gloves work) are nice while you wait for the sun.

Moab will be about 5 - 10 degrees warmer.

It's looking like it will be rather clear. I'm hoping for a few clouds at the right times to make the dawn and dusk shots wonderful.

Bring sunscreen or hats. It's easy to burn in this area.

We'll have a full moon, so plan on some evening shoots to capture that.
