Wow. Just went through every one of the images in your collection, Brad and am at a loss for words (but I'll try). They're simultaneously beautiful and tragic. Looking through these pictures, I feel the loss more powerfully than ever.

Thanks for sharing. Wow.

Sort of a follow-up and a bit of closure to the events:

The fires destroyed nearly 3,000 structures, charred over 500,000 acres -- an area more than double the size of New York City -- while killing seven people and injuring 113 firefighters and 26 civilians, and over 1/2 Million people were evacuated in the San Diego area alone.

I chose to add a bit of closure to the same day my Photojournalism image
was shot, with my Free Study Challenge, by a dedication of sorts in this image:

My heart goes out to all those that lost so much, including those that lost their lives protecting us. This past Sunday, I took a brief drive from Escondido to Ramona, trying to find a hint of beauty in all the destruction, without being insensitive to anyone's personal property that was lost:

Heck, it ain't the MASS that's the problem; without the mass I'd have been bouncing like a marble. Might be the nut on the steering wheel, though; I've heard they can go rogue...

Thanks everyone!

Was a pretty neat experience and was a chain of events that started with taking a candid shot of the newscaster on the job, sending a printable version along with a link to a slide show, followed by a phone call and then a visit to the TV studio.

One of my customers just dropped off a DVD of the aired version from TV - cool!

And Robert, that POS is a classic.
There are some rather fond memories in that back seat, back in 1973.
;)

It's an illusion, Lesley. He's a so-cal redneck with a POJ (piece of junk) car.

(runs for shelter)

Congratulations Brad
For an amateur photographer you look downright professional. Excellent body of work to support that.

Great job Brad! You were very well spoken and natural in your interview. How did the interview come about? Very good exposure for you, your phone should be ringing off the hook! Congrats!

I'm in a situation where I probably cannot access the link - any chance someone can make a digital copy of it that I could get from them later somehow? I'd love to see it! And congrats, Brad! I've been showing your portfolio to the folks I work with here and they're all VERY impressed!

Great story, Brad! So cool that they interviewed you rather than just showing your photos. They did a fantastic job and so did you. Congrats!

I think these satellite photos are of the fire started by a kid playing with matches.

Brad -- did you get to pick which profile they'd shoot? I have to wait until I get to work to hear the audio, but the video looked cool.

Well, golly darn, Brad, you might want to take that little point and shoot out more often and get rid of that amateur status.
:-))
More seriously, fabulous work, Brad, and nice to see your work get the appreciation and views that it deserves.

That was incredible Brad!
