Absolutely you should. Might be nice though, if maybe you could see your way clear to spending an extra few seconds explaining your opinion to those you vote 1 - 3? You seem fairly articulate and there are many here who would appreciate the honest feedback :)

Aaahhh. I didn't think of that aspect. I'll try to go back and explain my ratings on all photos, regardless of score. I appreciate your comment. Thank you.

Mr. shankraft, you telling me mine wasn't composed and done well. I spent some time to take my picture and I didn't just get the DELETED and took a shot at them :/

Sorry - I don't understand what you've written. Could you please clarify so I can better address your comment?

Thanks,
Vijay

I gafe the score of 1 for _badly_ taken DELETED photos. Actually, let me correct that - for _all_ _badly_ taken photos - ones that I felt that had little to no effort put in. There were a couple of well done DELETED photos, to which I gave higher scores:
DELETED
DELETED

These were composed _and_ photographed well.

I believe that if you can execute a common idea well, folks will appreciate it - take any idea and execute badly and you'll find that the folks on this site will respond harshly.

Maybe this discription of how graphicfunk votes would guide you in your future voting challenges.

Hmmm. While I agree with the basic method of voting that graphicfunk uses, I disagree with 2 things:
1. You don't to be a master to state your opinion that a photo is not good - that's the whole point of the vote; it's someone's opinion.
2. Simply putting people on a scale of 5-8, simply means that for the compressed scale that's being used, a 5 is the equivalent of a 1 or a 2. If the voting scale is 1-10, using your own scale simply adds a skew that is misleading. This maybe okay, if you simply don't rate any photos that are not 5-8 i.e. photos that are 1-4, 9 and 10 are essentially no votes in your book, but I'm sure that's not what graphicfunk is suggesting. Skew = bad.

I'm looking forward to seeing your entries in the near future. Please do enter challenges so that we may learn from you :)

On a more serious note, I doubt that my photos are anywhere near the quality for entry into a competition. I have opinions and I base my vote on that opinion.

I'm surprised too. Never thought so many people were interested to vote in this challenge.

I think since it is a small contest everybody is having plenty of time to analyse the image & write comment on it.

I've removed my original post, since it violated challenge voting rules that I was unaware of.

With sincere apologies to everyone,

maybe....maybe....maybe...could this ribbon? is it possible?

Yes I think so :)
Because this is the best score which I see here until yet. Best of luck to you. You might have got nice comment & vote from me. If this is the really best score then this may be good news for many of us as well.

You will need to do far more better than this to score a ribbon. At least 7. Very likely you will be in Top 20, if not Top 10.

Well It's not always true. You can see the examples in previous challenge:
Closing
Children's Toy
The second thing is that this challenge is having entries around 100 & very few eyecatching images so I think the highest score may not be more than 6.5 or 6.8. After all it's only a guessing. I may be wrong if someone is not putting his/her best score here.

I just want to say thanks for all the great comments. I'm happy with this one - especially the number of views! Wow - Second most number of views for one of my challenge entries. Whoo-hoo. Guess the thumbnail looks interesting even if the score isn't any higher. Lol

Still pencil shape...

It was a wishful thinking, but wishes won't fix my points in this challenge :)

The end of my 6+ streak :(

!!!This was the beginning of ending for my 6+ streak !!!

I would think twice about entering a chopstick photo in a challenge for the next 3 months. No, I would think once. And not enter it... (although it meets the challenge perfectly.)
