...I don´t think anybody cares but I have gotten to day four PM´s or emails from people complaining/whining about one of my comments in the recent Free Study.

I am basically from now on done with commenting here, I don´t need this crap and I have better things to do so I´ll just keep my own apparently stupid ass opinions to myself from now on.

BLAH!

Don't let 'em get you, Larus. I appreciate your comments - even when your wrong! heheheeeeee

Please don't stop commenting just because of a few whiners - you are very much appreciated around here by most of us! :)

Just send the names to Art and he'll take care of it...

Larus,

I think your honesty is what is needed in comments. Your comments aren't rude in any way either.

Just ignore the whiners (I know, easier said than done).

Colette

If they can't handle an honest comment from one of the site's most respected members, that's their problem, not yours!

Thx guys but the thing is this has now put me in a foul mood and I don´t want to go into a foul mood over something so trivial and I certainly don´t want to associate a foul mood to my experiences at DPC.

Thing is though, I know I will do it again, I have gotten dozens of PM´s like that since I started this site and they always really get on my nerve so I just don´t need that and since I don´t really comment for myself anymore, why bother then?

I must admit that I actually have sent a couple of rude PM´s like that in the past but the last one was a long time ago, before I kind of stopped caring what other people thought about my photography as long as I liked it.

Anyway, that was not what this thread was about, to convince me otherwise so don´t bother :P

I was just hoping that maybe a few people saw it and maybe stopped to think twice next time before sending a PM complaining about a comment.

I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise, but some of us really appreciate your comments and actually learn something from them. I'm saddened that I won't receive them anymore.

You know, I've never sent nor received one ... perhaps you could PM me with one of your comments and the PM you got in response so I have a better idea of what's going on.

Otherwise, I agree there's no point in commenting (or perhaps even voting) if you're in a foul mood about anything.

You could wait until challenges are over, that way you'll know who's shots you're commenting on. Then you can concentrate on commenting on my shots. Screw everybody else. ;-)

Nah, that would be overreacting on my behalf, to complain to you guys about this and they weren´t all rude but thx anyways. I´ll just settle for ranting :P

That's fine ... I was just personally curious though, not acting in any "official" capacity.

If you want to comment without any possible threat of a rude PM, my portfolio is available. :-)

Otherwise, I just enjoy seeing what you do and hope you keep doing it. Your free study was quite lovely. The light is perfect in it.

That's a real shame Larus, your comments are very helpful. That, for me, is what dpc is about, learning how to make my work better. Without constructive comments like yours, I won't learn.

Screw the hater’s dude! They only wish they had 1/100 the talent you have. If I got a comment from you good or bad I would print it and frame it as it meant you actually looked at my image in it evoked enough in you to comment.

People who PM'd you back should go look at you portfolio and then send you an apology.

Well that’s what I think anyway...

Do what you gotta brother and don't let the haters and dumbass's get you down.

Peace!

Just ignore them Larus. Surely you have a thick enough skin to handle them. Not that people should be sending you nasty stuff. I didn't agree with much of what you said on my entry except maybe the lighting, but it was appreciated.

Making purely critical comments will tend to put the recipient on the defensive. You seem to want to help people - so maybe try keeping your comments balanced. It will keep the photographer receptive to what you have to say, and you won't get any whiney pm's.

If you can't find anything positive or constructive to say about a photo, you may not be looking hard enough. What use is a negative comment from someone who didn't even take a good look at your photo?

Well, it's kind of hard to take comments made by somebody with a pacifier in his mouth as serious. };>)

If it matters I let you know that I was very happy that LARUS made a comment on my free study (this month) entry.

You know what... I am not going to change my style in making comments for anybody, if people don´t want to know why I personally did not vote their shot high and rather want another low score without a reason why, then I certainly won´t dissapoint them in the future.

Sounds arrogant to me. You want people to change their response to your comments but you yourself don't want to change a thing. Clearly you don't really care abut helping anyone. You just want to make a decree. BTW, how receptive are you to this comment? QED.

Well I was one of those who PM'd Larus after the challenge was over. I dont often respond to comments on my entries but this one really got under my skin. I waited to respond because I dont believe in doing so while the challenge is underway. I am not sure of the etiquette in these situations as far as revealing what has been PMd but if anyone can enlighten me and is interested I will gladly repeat the comment, my PM and Larus' response.

I really am not into flaming and name calling and the like and find that his response was really extreme and aggravated me even futher.

Tomorrow is another day...and another way of thinking, voting, commenting. That's what I say...and usually end up doing. I can't even begin to count the different number of feelings and emotions I've gone through in the past year here at DPC. What's done is done and we'll all get over it. Whatever 'it' was...

If your picture was hanging in a gallery and someone made a comment about it that you didn't like, would you quickly jump on them in response, or would you just take it as someone's opinion and everyone has different tastes? I think the only way to truly grow is to do the 2nd.

Do you think the "greats" ran around at their exhibitions defending every piece against "negative" comments? Probably not.
