To be honest it has been a pretty long while in the making, an update would be nice or even some info on when/if it will be re-introduced again...

Do tell........why should we believe your statement above what the site council has stated in this thread?

Do you have some inside information?

You don't have to believe me if you don't want too, and I can't say if I do or don't.

So Its been pretty close to 2 years now that since the last DPL has been run, Are we ever going to see another Season or should we really give up on this and continue to go on with our own lives.

I loved when we had the DPL, I got to know so many people so much better and not just the people on my team, and I was able to learn and help and improve my photography thanks to many folks that were apart of the DPL and the WPL.

So, Hauxon, thank you very much, we were telling the truth from the beginning. To imply, or implicitily state, as you have done, is more than insulting.

No need to be insulted Karmat and not my intention. I'm just saying it must be frustrating having the whole thing dropped considering the amount of workhours the SC seemingly did on the "issues" and the effort of telling everybody it's going to happen.

Maybe you should feel insulted/resent/let-down by Langdon for putting the site-council through months of hard work while having no intention of running another season of the DPL.

This conversation is getting nowhere and tired anyway. I'm checking back on this thread in 100 years! ;-)

Best, Hrannar

We never lied or purposely withheld information about this. To be candid, I slightly resent the implication that we did. Any information about the DPL timeline was what we had at the time, which was very little. I suspect Langdon was mulling over what to do with DPL for quite some time, but he didn't share that with us until he reached his decision to roll it into a larger site revision. If we didn't share information before Langdon's announcement, it is because we didn't have it.

The day Langdon told us he had decided to roll the DPL revisions into a larger-scale site overhaul, we told Langdon that there needed to be an announcement, and that it needed to come from him.

I don't slightly resent it; I largely resent it.

Late in the evening on March 11, I asked point blank if there was going to be another dpl. Up until that time, we were working on different elements of the tournament and trying to iron things out. just like the users were told

10 minutes later, Langdon gave us the answer that you received in the thread.

1 minute later, club suggested we make such an announcement, and requested that Langdon make it.

Langdon made his announcement on the 13th.

So, Hauxon, thank you very much, we were telling the truth from the beginning. To imply, or implicitily state, as you have done, is more than insulting.

Well I actually would be up for helping out if anybody wants my advice or opinions or to write up the rules, stuff like that. Like an advisor or something of the sort.

the original WPL was more fun anyway ;-P

Yup, this says it all. Not very clear and not as a part of the original post but it is the reason the DPL was put to sleep. What the SC should learn from this is just to tell the truth in the beginning. I feel sorry for Karmat for having to spend her effort defending a lost cause.

The DPL probably didn't result in more paying members. Why add service to current customers if it only includes more work for SC and owners?

Does this mean the embarrassing moment is over for now? If DPL comes back I will participate, but I agree that if things need to be ironed out, it should be done correctly. Some things just take longer in life.

Okay, I get it! Just wish this had been better communicated to all.

That's not the reason for putting DPL on hold. In the original post, Langdon explains that he's putting his efforts into an overhaul of DPChallenge instead.

i think the thread took on a life of its own, eventually, but langdon's post about 12 down tells you everything I know about it. :)

Not sure how it could have better been communicated short of a red banner across the top. Of course, the thread itself was highlighted in green, so that is close. All I can say is, it is posted, we can't make sure everyone reads it. That's why I posted it here.

Announcement to everyone -- if you see a "green" thread, that is an administrator's announcement. They're usually important. ;)

My prediction is a century!

The delay is but a blink of an eye, relative to the history of mankind. It's the lack of communication which weighs heavily on the masses. I feel sad for my team... as team captain, I wonder what my team thinks. And, we have enthusiastic replacement members waiting for a determination of their fate. Embarrassing, to say the least!
