That's great. Remember, also, to try some different stuff every once in a while, even if it won't score well.

By the way, you might appreciate this shot, taken of Miami from my cruise ship.

Nope - DQ for outside the challenge dates!

And you would need to shake a fist or something, too, so we could see your emotion. Maybe you could paste a printout of The Scream on the bag?

Wow! I'm tickled at the response.

the better question is are you tickled by your score?:):P

it sure seems like it

I'm actually disappointed my first blue ribbon will finally disappear off my profile. :( But such is life and progress. I had a soft spot for that picture though.

i was hoping to be a competition for you in this challenge, apperently , although i am too close to the magic number, i guess i 'll be falling short :(

Not really. Both are relevant and many voters never read the details.

I'm looking forward to seeing your entry, because you've posted the same thing twice now.

To me, if you have a face, you're on the edge, but if it's hidden or not important to the image, you're okay.

However, if a face is the main focus point, you're DNMC. If the face is the main way you portray the extreme emotion, even if the face isn't the main focus point, you're also DNMC.

I think the point is that faces are the usual way to show emotion, so the challenge was to portray extreme emotion without using facial expressions.

You just proved my point Thank You

Most pictures displaying sad situation show what could be an emotional situation they may even make you emotional they do not show emotion..... emotion is a gester or a facial expresion not an act or the photo of an act not showing gester or facial expretion

Oh my goodness, from the recent comments (and my score has gone above 4.5 for the first time), I think maybe some voters actually got it!

It's just one of those things that if I have to explain it, you probably won't get it anyway. And I probably took the "facelessness" a bit too far...So now I'm happy, lol.

I'll just be happy when this one ends! Lowest score I've gotten so far!!

Rules: Basic Editing
Submissions: 108
Voting Deadline: Jul. 31st 2007

Title of Challenge: Extreme Emotion Faceless
Details of Challenge: Capture extreme emotion. However, the face of the emotive subject should NOT be the
main focus of your photo

The Title is a title the details are the rules:
Nowere in the details does it say faceless it does say that the emotive one should not be your main subject though.

Is it that hard to understand that there can be faces in this photo challenge and the focal point of the picture the main subject can be a face or whatever and that the emotive subject should not be the main focus !!!!!!!! (get it yet) anybody who DNMC a photo because there is a face in there is realy not paying attention to the photography anymore just trippin on themselves I am getting tired of the drama lighten up!!!!!

Hey, Urfa!

Don't put in random shots with shoddy execution even if you think the idea's cute..

Actually I have put a shot that I shot for another challenge and then put it into another challenge. It is fun thing to do, though.
and yes I do not mind 4.5, would not much hurt my already low vote received average.

Nooooooo - my post was a joke. In the post just before mine, Urfa said to remind her using exactly those words. I just quoted her without hitting the quote button.

I got that but I was saying that there are people like me, who actually do it. (shot for another challenge, then just because another challenge has many entries, put their shot in the one it was not shot for.
:-))

levyj413, JuliBoc, kdiverdown, smardaz, codfish - thanks for the great constructive comments on my entry. I like it okay (it clearly meets challenge in a hit you over the head manner), but it was missing some important editing and you all provided great info to improve it. Where were you guys last week!!!

5.7 and holding...

Normally, when I hand out this many DNMCs, I figure I must be missing something, but I can't figure out any broader definition that I can live with. Again, I'm not promising anything, but it might be worth sending me a PM. :)

Meanwhile, my own shot is exactly average: 5.5.
