Thou Shalt Not Come In the General Discussion Forums If All You Want Is To Talk Photography.

Just to put my two cents in, I think it's great that this website has allowed people to make new friends, and share personal things with them. Yes, it is a photography site, but this just shows you how good of a site it is. I wish all sites were this tight knit. It makes one feel good to come to this site where people know you and are willing to listen and take time out of their busy lives to have a conversation with people who they would never have known had it not been for DPC. I say congrats to an excellent site and the excellent people who come here. Keep up the great work DPC!

Because they have added a new section to the forums, This thread could probably be locked now.

Unless you guys haven't finished sorting out the details for the Burn when I pee challenge. Then by all means ignore my suggestion.

OK, so now we have a section dedicated to personal posts.

Now the pots and the kettles have place to hang out together;)

According to ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/user_id/1054.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/user_id/1054.gif', '/') + 1) . ' ClubJuggle, that's a valid concern.

FWIW, //www.flickr.com/ is much more funner. And there are places where EVERYONE gets a ribbon! If that's really what you're into.

"Now when I fart it sounds like I am sitting in 6 inches of water. That can't be good. Thanks south beach."

From this personal thread.

Alternatively, how about we encourage people with personal issues to post them in the Challenge Suggestions forum. It might make for some interesting challenges.

I really don't understand the outcry against the suggestion that a "Personal" forum be created. What is it those who object to the suggestion are afraid of?

Well, if you create a new forum "specifically" for people's personal matters, then this site starts to bridge out into a psychology forum. If a bunch of people here were American Idol fans, you wouldn't want to create a separate American Idol forum -- that's not what this site is about. It makes a lot more sense to have one General Discussion (two if you count Rants) for any and all topics not related to the focus of this site.

Skip, don't stand so close when you try to put out the bonfire...

On-topic, since Chiqui still wants to read the announcement type (weddings, babies, etc) why not just have one new section for those? Then everything else is just fine where it is.

"Announcements -got exciting news? This is the place to share it."

Probably the same way one determines what they'll say to anyone around the water cooler and what they'll save for a private discussion in the ladies' (or men's) room. ;-)

I think an "Personal Issues" forum would be entertaining. I know I'd start a few threads about this severe burning sensation I get when I pee. Anybody else?
