I wasn't the first to peel off, but may be the first one to make it back...

Just a quicky to say thanks to both Matt and Matthew for showing a few of us colonials around town. (We ain't yanks, we're from the south...)

It was great to meet up with new and old friends.

I'll try to get some stuff posted eventually.

For what it's worth the Thaemes Barrier system will be doing their annual full tide closure tomorrow (Sunday) from "10 to 6 in the AM and 10 to 4 in the PM". I am not sure how to interpret that nessage: "0550 in the AM and 3:50 in PM?" or "Open some of the locks from 10 AM to 6 PM and others from 10 AM to 4PM", or they will have them open some time between either 10 to 6 or 10 to 4 and time is uncertain?

Anyone that can figure this out let me know, Might be worth a shot if it did not interfere with the other activities. Local help please!

And see all of you at 1230. Also I will be doing a webcam geoacache at AbbeyRoad about a mile away at about 11 if anyone is interested. More the merrier. Fellow in US is set up to capture the shot.

A few shots from this folder.

These were a couple of favorites from todays trip to the Tower of London. Just quick hacks on the laptop...

I'm afraid I'm going to have to pull out too (collect your winnings on that bet!). Haven't been online a lot recently and completely forgot it was this weekend till yesterday! I'm quite a bit into my student overdraft too so can't really afford it. Hope you all have a great time! This time next year I'll have (hopefully) graduated and will (hopefully) have a full time job to (hopefully) balance off the debt :P So I'll (hopefully) still be able to meet everyone - fingers crossed!

Matt & June, I'm glad I did actually get to meet you on home turf. Hope you have a great time in sunny Florida!

Enjoy Mallorca, Bob. It's one of my favorite places. If you've never been, the Cathedral is very nice, and the coast road up the West side is a very nice ride, especially if your ride a motorcycle.

Post some shots yourself...

Dave, thanks for the heads up on the Cathedral. I don't ride but we are going to hire a car. I post some pics when i get back.

After over 3 hours of delays, because some muppet ran into and dented the original aircraft, I have made it here, and got checked in to the hotel. I think a good meal (The first of the day)and a wander around St. Pauls is in order....

hey Dave

welcome to blighty.... get used to the delays!!!

more bad luck for you as well.... St Pauls is having a bit of work done at the moment and has got scaffolding and builders everywhere. Not very photogenic!

Yeah, I got a few shots of the front, but a bit crowded, so hard to get a good angle. Might try in the evening if the crowds thin out

Is anybody in town up for the Tower and Bridge tomorrow?

(edit to add...)

OK, I've found a potential place to meet up

Hope you like it - it worked well as a meeting point/ lunch stop when I did a similar GTG some time back - I nicked the idea from some folks who'd done similar GTG some time before that! Quite a quiet little pub which we all quite liked...

We may be able to join you later in the afternoon so keep your mobile on!

Well, looks and sounds good to me, although I will not be able to make the early learning group early birds in the zoo.

I'll be there as well. I've sent Matthew my mobile number, (although it is long distance), or you can contact me at the Club Quarters, St. Pauls. I'm booked in from tomorrow night (Friday) until Monday morning.

See ya there

Oh, and Matt, you can put my percentage up to 98.35%....

I doubt we'll be in a rush, so yeah, food (and of course drink) if you want it.

To add, I am meeting dpdave and gloda a bit earlier for a pre-GTG. We were thinking about going to London Zoo at around 10:00 or 10:30. We'll walk/bus/taxi it to Warwick Road for 12:30. Anyone who wants to join us - just shout/PM me.

By way of warning, it is ツ」16 pp entry and we would not be guaranteed re-entry after leaving (though it may be possible to arrange depending on how busy they are - I have checked). I expect that this price will probably put off the majority for a short, late afternoon visit (last entry 16:30, closes at 17:30) in any case.
