The day shorty shorts becomes a DPC challenge is the day we should all fear!

Take away the military type of infractions in this equation and you are left with a staggering 7 instances of occurences, four of which would fall in the realm of misdemeanor offenses.

I don't know about where you live, but I would say that would in all likelihood pale by comparison to the incidents that occur on a regular basis in a small town and would be more akin to those generated in a village.

... and that sir is called Due Process... a procedure that is even more rampant in civilian life. Sorry, but while I can appreciate you dilemma in this regard, you should be aware that even the most heinous of criminals get to have their day in court.

If indeed such is the case, I would strongly suggest that the military strive to have the male population undergo psychological tests as there is truly something amiss with some of the troops.

Rather hard to believe that one person wearing shorts can create such havoc and have such a negative impact on the troops and their good character.

Considering that no one but you knew of this person's occupation, it could be argued that the damage you now refer to was self inflicted.

Just another man's point of view.

You don't like what's going on in the 60's? Here is a color TV. You don't like us increasing your work week to 40 hours? Here is a cell phone. You don't have confidence in your elected government? Here is a star getting screwed on home video. Starting to see the ratio increase?

Everyone thinks America is an uptight conservative country... and that's right... but not for the reasons you think. The more you take away the more you have for bargaining chips later on. Don't give them thongs in magazines now, we'll wait til something really bad happens and we need to pull that card. If all of you stopped paying attention to tv, magazines, or what some politician thinks, you would spend all that time thinking about you, and your relationship to the world.

Pay attention to how many thongs they show you.

So how does that affect you and why should you care? Are you her superior?

to start off...I understand that the only way someone would know if this person is in the military is by being told or by looking at the OP's profile (they don't have many non-military American's in South Korea) so it is a little hard to comment on this in itself but knowing it is a member or our armed forces makes it totally different. It might be hard for anyone that has never had any doings with the miltary but this is a big deal and I hope she is or was confronted and corrected.

Actually if in fact she is a military member or even works on the military base, it does affect him in more ways than just seeing it. It is a slap in the face to everyone that follows the rules of good order and discipline. It a LOT of potential to cause problems and again go against the rules of good order and discipline. Need an example?

Someone mentioned about maybe someone cheating on his wife to get with this girl. What if it is one of the OP's junior people that does this and gets caught, first it IS illegal in the Military and can ruin a career, not to mention the man-hours lost due to paperwork and legal proceedings and assigning a replacement should that member be discharged. Then what happens if due to his legal mess he misses work and a mission can't be completed or a pilot can't get his required air time. Sound trival but it really could mean more than just his career in the long run. Second what happens when the spouse back home finds out? Does she deserve that, how about his kids or even parents?

What happens if she's with one guy one night and a new one the next and the first one gets pissed and starts a fight...trust me it happens. Now how many people are out of work due to injury or misconduct hearings? All because she might be a attention addict.

Doesn't matter her build, color, age, religion or even background, that attire is not proper attire for a military member even in civilian cloths. We have standards for a reason and they need to be followed. I am actually surprised that she made it out of her berthing and off the base like that, unless she changed once she left the base, it is people like this that ruin it from everyone else. She should be glad she isn't stationed somewhere where you are required to be in uniform anytime you leave the base...actually people like this are almost always the reason that rule is in place.

Again, if you don't deal with the miltary you may not see the importance of the issue and the OP probably should have orginally mentioned that she is an American Ambassidor to Korea to better help some understand what really is wrong with this image.

eta: It should be noted that we men also have similar guidlines to follow that some may see as stupid or petty (no earrings-period on base or off NONE...here in Oki shirts must be tucked in and other things)

btw BHuseman...gotta love those AFRTS(A-Farts) and FEN (Forced Entertainment Network) commericals huh lol I bet I know more about states and their capitals now than I ever learned (or wanted to learn) in school lol.

wooooooooooowww.. Someone drank too much crazy before he wrote this.. lol...

What is the deal with hanging on to the statment that this WOMEN is in the military.. Because the guy who posted the picture is LISTED as being in South Korea... She could be a tourist on vacation, or a wife of the guy she's with and HE happens to love her big juicy bottom in those tiny little itty bitty shorts.. And SHE'S just doing it to please him..

Is everyone here that has taken it upon themselves to list all the reason she shouldn't dress this way "because she's in the military", so freakin gullable that you jump on this bandwagon at the first hint of the original statement being true... lol... Come on people....

If it was really this horrible travesty that the above author is making it out to seem, then she WOULDN'T be walking around like that.. So, calm down.. Short shorts don't send our good military men into such a hizzy that they start battling eachother over who's night it is to be with this lady and then lose their jobs due to their out of control hormones.. And, then you have the balls to blame her for extra paperwork because a situation like that may happen.. lol..
And, aliens might come down and shrink her shorts even more and think of what will happen to our military then.. I mean, they are all so out of control & such bootie hungry animals, it's amazing anything gets done on any base around the world..

I married to someone in the military and what's a bigger disgrace then her shorts is your opinion of the men & women of the military..Give everyone a little credit & stop blowing this out of porportion..

I still can't believe that everyone believe's she's military personell and that what's she's doing is so morally wrong she's going to bring down the opinion of all Americans due to her night out with daisy dukes.. As if the perceptions of Americans abroad isn't already tarnished by much more important issue's, that this would even be a blip on the radar..

I can tell you this is one of those instances where being married to the military does not allow you to fully understand being in the military. I am stationed at Osan Air Base. We lead the Air Force in nonjudicial punsihments. 95% of thos punishments are alcohol induced. This is a dependent restricted tour so 95% of the military memebers here are without their families. Last month there were 29 NJP's handed out. That is almost one for every day of the month.

TOP VIOLATIONS

Art. 92 – Failure to obey lawful order (7)
Art. 86 – Failure to Go (6)
Art. 92 – Violate other general order (4)
Art. 134 – Drunk and disorderly (4)
Art. 128 – Assault and battery (3)
Art. 86 – Going from place duty (2)
Art. 92 – Dereliction of duty (2)

To state that assaults don't take place over women is ludacris. The male to female ratio here is low. This is offset buy the amount of women who are paid to sit in a bar and charge men 10 dollars to buy them a shot glass of juice (hence the term juicey for those that have heard it.)

Extra paperwork. You have no idea how many hours are decidacted to one instance of nonjudicial punsihments. First town patrol has to do their part, then spend hours typing their police reports. Then the commander and first sergeant have to reveiew the case and make a punishemnt determination. The people at the legal office have to do up the required paperwork. It then has to be served to the individual. following that the individual has see the defense counsel to draft his reply. The individual is then seen by the commander again so that punishment can be handed out. Then another 3 days go by with another trip to the defense counsel for an appeal. Then the legal paperwork has to be reviewed. The paperwork sent to various agencies to process the individual for demotion, or loss of pay or whatever else the punishment could have been. All while this is going on the indivudal is not working because they have legal issues and appointments. So, is extra paperwork involved when people do stuff like this? You bet.

Now lets look at the even darker side. Every weekend, let me restate this so it sinks in, EVERY WEEKEND there is at least one sexual assault on a military installation in Korea.

That is why there are standards. That is why standards should be followed. Does her attire bring discredit upon Americans? Yes. Are there other factors in the world that may tarnish our image? Sure. But here in Songtan Korea, where I am sure you have never been, you have no idea how much of an impact her actions can and do have.

As a matter of fact I did not drink ANY crazy before writing this...after 18 years actively in the military, it is not mearly my "opinion" of our men and women in the military, it is actual facts that most others don't see (or don't chose to see).

We believe this is a military person because the OP said it was on the very first page.

And if it wasn't an issue there wouldn't be any rules and regulations about it. It is a problem, one I have seen or heard of at every overseas base in the service. It is certainly NOT just the women causing the problem but when one is dressed like this you can't really blame anyone else (expect her peers and superiors for not leading her correctly). Short shorts may not always send our military men into a frenzy but if this is allowed then where do you draw the line? Do you allow just a bit more butt before it is wrong or do you start that line right after someone is raped because they wore suggestive clothing? Maybe we just let them run around in anything (or nothing) they want? An ounce of prevention...well you know the rest. And just one person getting into a frenzy over this type of issue is too many.

You may be married to a miltary person and may see and hear some stuff but unless you actually live in these conditions everyday and have to deal with it you really don't know. When you have kids (and yes they are kids) coming into the military at barely 19 years old and have to "babysit" most of them on a daily basis, and then deal with the ones that can't seem to follow them you will know why these rules exist and are important.

It isn't just about keeping our men or women at bay but also keeping a proper level of professionalism and representing ALL Americans in a correct light when we are in foreign countries. Do you REALLY want this person going around a different country representing YOUR country like this? And even closer to home...representing the miltary in which your husband is a part of? Even if she was just a tourist I'd still be ashamed for her.

This may be considered a small little blip but if you don't clean up the blips you soon won't be able to see your radar at all. Tarnish doesn't just appear all at once...it builds from little bits.
