i came in this morning to start the b&w challenge thread like we decided, with the name you suggested marac ie . "THE B&W 30 Day'er has begun" and someone's already started it ... i prefer your title, coz its different from this one and ppl would really know the difference ... i'm feeling i should start it like you said, coz nothing's in the other one yet, but i dont want to step on anyone's toes ... wish i could phone someone, coz i dont like making these sort of decisions .... its now nearly 7am on the 1st May which is 5pm on the 31th in dpc land ... i wont create a new one but i'll make the change over very obvious with this last post ...

I don't think anyone is going crazy. I was just worried about duplicates and since Roz had planned on doing it, I was wondering if there was another thread out there.

| YAY, this is gonna be difficult, but i WILL Keep up... i have just been evicted from my current basement suite. and i have to move out on the 1st on July... so between packing all my crap, working, and taking a little vacation, and moving into a new apartment... i will dedicate time each day to black and white... and i WILL complete all 30 days Muha ha ha... |

| I'm going to be pretty busy this week but I got out and snapped for the first week of the side challenge. I think I have some interesting stuff to work with - lots of good light this weekend! Can't wait to see what people are doing with B/W... |

i see ppl are putting links to other great places for various things .. this is one i've used for some amazing plugs .. there are plugs for b&w in this site, but i havent used them ... just check it out if you're interested .. the plugs are free ...

this is just one of the things i love about dpc ... NO-ONE TAKES ME SERIOUSLY!!! .. and altho this is a wonderful place to learn about all things photographic and get the most amazing critiques (thank you to  stdavidson), we can also have a bit'v fun with each other ... it always puts a *GRIN* on my face when i read this sort'v give & take ... I JUST LOVE IT ....

Another easy method of black and white conversion is using the virtualPhotographer plugin. You can get all sorts of different effects with very little effort.
I don't use it very often myself because I keep forgetting I've got it, but I've had some good results. Just a warning - don't use it in basic editing.

1) Don't stalk.
2) Don't be creepy.
Don't act like you're doing something wrong. You're not. You're a photographer taking pictures. Take pictures. If some one says "No," it means No. In that case don't take pictures of that/those person/people.

A quick question for portraits... how do you guys get candid shots of people with out looking like a stalking creep? just wondering... a few of my B&W ideas include people, but i don't have any models, so im thinking candid.. but i want to live.. :P,
