Some services can actually be worse then dialup. I do not know who they used but when i worked for dunkin donuts one store had it and i mean literally not enough bandwidth to even benchmark it.

When it first came out to the public years ago it was download only then you ran a 28.8K Dialup line for uploads. It wasnt too bad back then.

But as i said only some services.

You might check to see if there are any wireless providers in your area. Getting a good strong signal can be a hassle at times, but nothing putting the antanae on a pole can't fix. That and making them fine tune the signal if using a directional antenae (likely). Don't settle for "it's within the good range", have them adjust it until it is as good as it can get -- and make certain the signal strength is not bouncing around or you'll have disconnects.

i signed up late last year - the bandwith issue has never come up (350Mb/ 7 days...) paying $100 / month & happy with it.

it DID loosen @ the mount, but they came out & fixed it ASAP.

Hope this helps...

Hello my fellow DPCers

I'm moving out in the boonies where DSL and cable internet access aren't available. I NEED high speed. The only alternative I found was satellite Internet. I don't mind forking out the $1200 installation and equipment fees and paying $150/month for a descent speed. but what I might have to live with are caps on upload and download per day. On a normal day that won't bother me but since I upload lots of images to stock sites it'll take me 3-4 days to upload one batch of 20 images.

Are there better alternatives?

Thanks!

Yanik
