I guess we should lock this thread considering it's now the 2nd of April. Keep an eye out for a genuine thread in the next few days :)

horse malarky is a good way to describe those particular ones. :)

OK, I've been MIA all weekend and am just catching up on some of the nastiness that occurred over the weekend. I agree with most of the suggested "rules", but I do have a few problems with some of them and I will try to summarize why I don't agree with them...

Originally posted by langdon:

I understand the "spirit" of this rule, but I don't think it's fair to those who become the "underdogs". If a team doesn't place in the top 5, it could be for a number of reasons... Lack of competition being one of them. I believe that if the team does not have the required number of entries for two or more weeks, then and only then it should be dissolved. If teams consistently enter challenges, but simply score poorly, I don't think they should be penalized for low scores. To me, this discourages the spirit of what this site is about... If a team is made up mainly of newbies and/or photographers who "lack an eye for photography", they could (in a sense) become underdogs... Those who do not participate in the WPL could develop a fondness for these "underdogs" and may like to see how they develop and progress as time goes on... If their team is "dissolved", how can this happen?

If one of my team members has a brain fart and does advanced editing on a basic rules challenge or forgets to set the timestamp on their calendar, I don't think the entire team should be penalized for this simple error... Because team members typically do not know each other outside of this site and we can't watch each other edit images, it's impossible for us to "police" each others entries...

By setting things up so that captains can view entries and many of the other "features", I can understand the justification for this rule... However there may be a time when I want to enter a challenge independently of my team... If I'm experimenting with a new technique and I want to see how it fairs in challenges without it applying toward team averages, I feel like I should have the option to do so... For example... I am a full member and have the ability to enter more than one challenge per week if inspiration allows. If I don't enter at least one challenge then my team will suffer.... BUT... If I have entered my weekly image and have another image I would like to enter to see how it does on it's own, then I should have the option to do so.... I would think it would be relatively simple to code it so that if you have more than one entry awaiting rollover, you should have the option to apply one for the team and one for independent competition as long as it is done prior to the first rollover...

With all due respect Langdon, I'm gonna have to call horse malarky on this one.... If a team has one very strong member who is consistently performing well, I don't think they should be penalized by having their hard work and effort disqualified simply because the opposing team captain thought that it was an excellent image that would place high in competition!!! This is equilavent to Steve Spurrier benching C.J. Spiller just prior to the Clemson vs. South Carolina game!!! I would think this rule would go over like a lead balloon!!!

My $0.02 USD.

So if you enter WPL5 you can`t win a real ribbon for 5 months. Ouch.
Edit, Don`t worry just seen this was posted yesterday.

Season one was all done by hand calculations and we didn't have the PhotoBowl. There were only 10 teams and the winning team was "The Magnificent 7"

Or how about Team Losers. They could have a giant L on the forehead as their logo.

Thank you... Llamas Rule!

The Llamas are the closest thing to a Team Suck-endorsed WPL Team, although we also kinda like the Pirates when they go ARRRRR
