Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.
I say an interview with the photographer that started this organization - it made me cry to just think about it, and the images. My wife, and even my assistant, refuse to watch it.
It will make you cry, weep and fall to pieces.
How anyone can take these photographs is beyond me, emotionally.

I find it more about happiness than making me cry. It is an amazing opportunity to go in and share some last moments of love with a family and help them preserve those moments forever. I am a paramedic and a nurse for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta in the PICU, and I really like the idea that this organization offers. Sometimes it is emotionally straining, but we try to stay focused on happiness that was brought even by a short stay here with us. I submitted an application with the group, as I am usually there anyway. I hope to hear from them pretty soon. It would also be a great charity to raise money for. There is also another group that is a little less depressing called Flashes of Hope. They photograph sick kids, but not necessarily at death's door. Great groups and I would definitely encourage involvement in some way. I know that it is difficult for some, but every little bit helps out in those times. Thanks for the post Chris.

| I believe some of our members are involved in this. I know there have been threads but now, of course, I can't find them. It's a wonderful project and I admire those who can do it :) |

I'll look into the Flashes of Hope. I just can't get my head around taking pictures of dead babies. Maybe too many horror flicks as a teenager or something.

I think palmetto pixels (or whatever his user name is now :P, Lee Dowse, I think is his name) is involved.
I've had the application printed out for about a year. I've just never gotten up the nerve to send it in. |

ETA: The above link is a resource for more discussion... Let's keep this thread going, it would be great to see more photographers sign up for this service. As difficult as it is for the photographer, just imagine how difficult it is for the parents... Providing tangible memories of their child (no matter how brief the life was) is an invaluable resource.
