Thank you pccjrose and silverscreen for you quick responses. I see what you both are saying. Thank you. I will keep all that in mind for the next challenge.

You are showing shallow DOF, no doubt about that. But not in a terribly interesting way IMO (I gave you a 5 which seems to be in line with most of the voters). It's not just about meeting the challenge, but also about doing it in a way that makes your picture stand out from the crowd.

I managed to comment on 104 during the challenge. I hope they helped.

I appologize to those I didn't get to. I knew I was done when I started cherry picking which ones to look at.

I have a good score in my consistent "also ran" range:

6.57
With only 5 comments
1 favorite

I'm glad it is ending tonight. Then I just have to watch my Free Study score go back and forth from 5.9 - 6.02 one more day and can get a rest from update anxiety :)

Not what I had hoped for, but it's still a good score...

I was hoping to pull out a 5.5, even though this isn't a shot I was overly enthusiastic about, still.. a 5.35 is better than a kick in the nuts.

I suspect this will be a low scoring challenge. Too many different interpretations of shallow DOF.

I'm in 3 challenges now (Personification, Free Study, and Shallow DOF), and I have the same score in all 3 (5.9, within a few hundredths), which is also my average over all challenges. I'm definitely consistent.

But the interesting thing is that all the comments on my Shallow DOF entry are negative, and all the comments on my Free Study are positive. Personification comments are all over the place.

Well, after a few questioning comments, I asked the council to validate my entry.

And it was validated.

And my score has risen steadily since.

Not that it is that great of a score.

But, I do feel validated. I normally do not look to others for validation, but in this case, it was the only way:)

Wow - Shallow comments for sure - First challenge i have not had one comment - As usual i thought the image was OK and it's flopped - Just one comment would help me know why!!
