I´m plenty satisfied with my Mekko //www.mekko.net/photobag/backseri.html
A wonderfull sized backpack to carry all my gears.

What about a combo cam/daypack?
Something to carry a body w/lens, 2 or 3 lenses, flash and charges etc. w/ a tripod attachment?

How are the LowePro trekkers?
The Tamrac Adventures look somewhat awkward - dont think i'd like the access to the cam compartment and also they dont look to hold much.

well I decided to just give up trying to buy a bag online cause I would have to have it shipped to my wife then she wold have to mail it to me (military address overseas).

I went ahead and got this one (but in blue).
It's actually just a trekking pack made by Mountainsmith but they have similar camera bags too.

I love the feel of it so far even with the tripod strapped to the bottom and seems to have just enough options and room for what I need.

GREAT! Now I love that one...and the 200 model. I was going to go tomorrow and buy the one I thought I liked but this seems so much better. I love the easy access door on the side instead of having to open from the top down...seems smarter.

One question though...in the image it shows the man carrying it over his right shoulder and bringing it under the left arm to access...it may sound petty but can this be reversed? I think I would want it the other way. Maybe cause that's how I'm used to carrying my bag and tripod, etc now. Might be able to get used to it....wonder if they will ship to Japan for me..ummmm

Ok, so like a true dork I've been in my kitchen slinging this bag all around my shoulders and back trying to figure out if can be reversed. The padded straps are sewn in, and cannot be moved to the other side. Sorry! :( However, if it makes you feel better, I always carry everything else over my right shoulder, and I love the way the bag mounts on the body. When you swing it 'round, you use your right hand to perform the maneuver which is very natural.

You can still sling it like a backpack over your right shoulder, but it flops around a bit and isn't as comfortable as crawling into it from the left.

i am pretty sure ours could be reversed. we had to get a bigger bag so i can't check. My wife complained that the slingshot was uncomfortable accross her chest and terribly unflatering:) (heard other women with this complaint too the comfort one) anyway just a word of advice in case it mattered. I did love the sue of it though.

I use this one by Canon. $50 at Amazon, plenty of room for SLR+grip and lens, I carry my flash, 3-4 additional lenses, plus all the extra junk. Plenty of pockets, zippered areas and straps. It's been a great backpack.

I am hoping the 200 isn't too big. If it is I guess I'll just have to buy more stuff to put in it :-)

I am getting a lowepro slingshot 200 for my new camera, getting a twin lens set and want to have lots of space to grow so went bigger right away.

does it have a sturdy bottom? I bought a messenger bag and it seemed to only have the nylon as a bottom, I didn't feel secure with it....Other than having a Nikon, I have the same size lenses as you have...do they ALL fit in this? and how much room is tons of room to spare? another lens? a Gary Fong Lightsphere??

Thanks.!

It has a sturdy bottom, and feels really solid. Everything fits in the bag (battery chargers, cables, remotes, filters) with the exception of my tripod. I am not sure about a lightsphere as I don't have one and don't know how big they are. I still easily have room for a couple of more lenses, depending on the size, (you won't fit a 500mm lens in there), as a frame of reference I could fit 2 more lenses the same size as the sigma 70-300mm.

I'm actually looking for a new one too, right now I use a camcorder bag which I like because of all the storage space and love how one of the dividers is cut out so the lens lies nicely in it. but I put so much in it that it gets too heavy and only has a shoulder strap not to mention everyone calls it my man purse.

I was going to get this one for about $100 but would have to wait for shipping and all that and just wonder how much I'll like it.

So this weekend I think I'm going to go get a very nice fanny pack style case I found. It has room for my cam and both lenses inside, a small securable pouch to hold the cards, battery, etc, two drink holder pouches on the sides with draw strings so they could easily double as a quick lens access and even has straps on it that would hold my tripod or monopod. It hooks around the waist but also has a single shoulder strap all which can be tucked in and kept out of the way. All for about $60. Now to decide, blue, black or brown...leaning to blue. I'll post image when I get it.

Well I am in the market for a new bag but I really hate to spend more than $200.....I need something to hold my 30D plus my kit lens, 85mm,70-300, 28-75, fisheye, and a flash. But I am also looking for one I can strap my tripod to.

Check out the lowepro stealth reporter bags... rain shield included, and there's a zippered slot in the top that lets you reach into the bag to grab lenses, etc without needing to unbuckle and unzip the entire top. I have the AW 200, but they come in different sizes based on your needs.

LowePro Stealth Reporter

edit - also comes with a nifty little pouch for your mem cards which you can take out if necessary. cool, functional bag.

Perfect day pack size, and easy access to gear, though you do have to remove the pack to get at it. The 9 is a bit bigger if you carry more gear.

i just got the adventure 9 for my d200 and i love it. it's got a laptop pocket that i probably will not use very often, but that means that i can take a notebook or magazines when i'm on a plane.

i first bought the slingshot 300AW and used it for one day and i hated it. it had padded hip straps that might have been nice if i was hiking a lot, but they just stuck in my back if i carried the bag over one shoulder. plus it wouldn't even fit a small (5.5x8) notepad or a book anywhere in it. PLUS if you really did have all of the straps on correctly, you couldn't easily swing it around to get at the side pocket and get the camera out.

i'm way way happier with the adventure 9 and i carry the d200 with the grip.

edited to add: i tried an adventure 7 at the store and it wouldn't fit the cam with the grip on it.

I was keen on the Tamrac 5547 but having looked at it a bit more I'd have to carry my camera with a small lens on it. Does anybody know of a similar style bag (camera at the bottom and a general purpose area at top) where I could hold the camera with my 7-300 lens attached?

If not, how about suggestions on what may suit my needs. I need a bag that holds the camera with the larger lens attached but is a backpack style as I have enough to manage if we are taking the baby etc out that I need my hands free.

I'm thinking of getting one of these as I have outgrown my Tamrac Expedition 3. I basically am looking for something to carry my lightsphere in....will it fit in the top part?? or any other suggestions for carrying it??
