Chicago is going to be plenty cold this month too; winter arrived a little late this year. What's a good way to keep a white sky from not looking so blown out? Indoor shots? [/quote] meyers
It would help if you can get a gradient filter.
I should have one but don't have it yet.
I went on a little side trip today, can we post pics of today, or do we have to shoot them tomorrow?

It might be some quick shots for the first few days! |

Sounds like a good opportunity to give HDR a try.

Now is your chance! A few comments and no votes--just a chance to share some of your world with the rest of us! Hope you post a few. |

commenting is cool, but i mainly like these themes as a spur to creativity. if a resulting picture inspires someone to comment, great. commenting for the sake of commenting is friendly and all, but for the less verbose amongst us, it can be kind of a drain. |

You missed out the IMHO.. ;) |
I don't think that it needs it. Commenting in such a challenge really helps bond the participants and provides a spur to continue and even to make more comments of one's own.

Did I miss something? when did this become a comment on peoples "30 days of where I live challenge" challenge? I will not have time to comment on all those pictures and I'm sure I am not the only one. Just thought I would point that out ;-)

Why not require that all comments be attached to the pic itself and not made inside the thread. Or maybe that's ow it is always done. |

I cannot believe the amount of participants in this challenge. I hope that I receive at least one comment for the entire 30 days. I have a feeling that with so many, we will get lost in the no comment mill. I hope everybody keeps that in mind, and looks at where comments have not been made, and make an effort to help out those who get few or no comments.
As to making this idea more manageable, I think the best compromise is one thread a week, then lock it. This will keep us on our toes and for those of us who lag behind, we just won't be able to post. Since I don't know what emergency may arise in my month, I am sure I will end up being one of the laggers, though I am really going to try my best to get one post per day, mostly new stuff. This should be fun, and I really can't wait to start seeing the images of all the geographic locations participating here. Now, I am also hoping to look at all your portfolios a lot more, see your stuff beyond challenges, and hopefully be able to make a lot of comments beyond the challenge.
