DPP is taking FOREVER to convert and save images - up to 15 minutes to convert to an EXIF jpeg and save . . . Is this normal? Why are conversions taking so long?

It sometimes takes me that long, too. For me, it depends on what other applications I have running. If I've got Photoshop and a few other things going at the same time, I have a very long wait. Even when I don't, though, conversion is a bit slow. Probably because my computer is kind of old now.

I suggest seeing how long it takes if you try the conversion right after rebooting your machine without starting any other applications.

You missed an important detail... What spec is your PC?

I use DPP to shoot teathered on a Dell Latitude laptop, it's a dual core centrion with 1Gb or ram.. Takes 20-30 seconds tops to do a raw-jpeg conversion. Most of them probably take less than 10 seconds.

You're not running Vista are you? I do know that DPP is a real pig on Vista, or at least it was when i tried out the Vista pre-release on my laptop.. That lasted about 4 days, I found all sorts of things that didn't work and restored a backup, back to XP!

Cheers, Me.

Try batching while you are away from the computer....no waiting or delays...ready when you get back.
