Firstly I want to thank the people who commented on my photo of a hermit crab in the pets challenge. I enjoyed the photo and the comments.I had a few people comment that the crab was hardly a "pet".... well you were right that it wasn't my pet - but essentially wrong because hermit crabs are a very popular pet in Australia. I wanted to show you all another "crazy crab" I found at the same location. This crab made a temporary home of beach litter!!! I was pretty amazed by the little critters anyway - and glad someone else was as well.

yup, I knew it was a pet, and I live in the states. Some people just don't realize that a pet doesn't have to be fuzzy to call it a pet. Loved your entry btw.

1,240,000 Google Hits for the terms "pet" "crab"...jeesh!

Being raised very near the coastal southern US, I can say without the shadow of a doubt that hermit crabs are indeed pets and are sold as such at nearly every tourist outlet on and near the beach!!!
